Franciscan Health Crown Point is hiring a Respiratory Therapist to join the onsite team at 12750 S Francis Dr, Crown Point, Indiana 46307. The person in this role oversees the diagnosis, treatment, and care management of patients with pulmonary disorders, using a range of tests to aid physicians in diagnosing conditions and to determine the type, method, and duration of therapy in line with orders. This is a full-time position, with opportunities for part-time work, and it would suit someone who enjoys collaborating with doctors, nurses, and caregivers to support patient recovery and teach disease-management techniques. The organization is a large Catholic health system with ministries and access points across Indiana and Illinois, dedicated to compassionate, high-quality care.

The role sits inside an environment that centers on patient outcomes and education. You’ll work under physicians to guide diagnoses and treatment plans, employing tests and procedures to inform decisions about therapy and medication doses. You’ll be hands-on with ventilation support, using both invasive and non-invasive methods, and you may deliver specialized ventilation approaches such as HFJV and HFOV, including the delivery of nitric oxide. In addition, you’ll administer inhaled medications, from bronchodilators to anti-inflammatories and antibiotics, tailored to each patient’s orders. Educating patients and their caregivers on disease management, breathing techniques, and the correct use of respiratory equipment is a core part of the job. You’ll also perform procedures like EKGs, ABG analyses, pulmonary function testing, and surfactant delivery, while ensuring that all respiratory therapy equipment is properly maintained and used appropriately. Finally, you’ll monitor how patients respond to therapy and adjust treatment plans as needed to optimize outcomes.

Advice for Applicants for the Respiratory Therapist Role

Lead with your most relevant credentials on your resume: place the NBRC RRT credential first, and don’t forget to include your state Respiratory Care Practitioner license along with the required BLS and ACLS credentials up top so they’re easy to spot.

Show concrete examples of your expertise in ventilator management and testing. If you’ve set up and managed HFJV or HFOV, delivered nitric oxide, performed ABGs or PFTs, or administered inhaled meds, quantify the impact where possible and mention any relevant patient outcomes or collaboration with the care team.

Be prepared to discuss how you assess a patient’s response to therapy and how you adjust treatment plans. Have a short, clear narrative about how you educate patients and caregivers, and illustrate your teamwork with physicians and nurses to support patient education and adherence to therapy.

Ask a focused question about the equipment and the team. For example, you could inquire about the ventilator models used, the typical case mix, and how the department collaborates with other units to coordinate care and optimize patient throughput.
