Retail Advisor
BT GroupBT Group is recruiting a Retail Advisor to join an on-site team in Lancaster, California. This full-time role sits in a busy store where you’ll help customers find the right solutions and keep things running smoothly. If you enjoy connecting with people, solving problems on the spot, and learning as you go, this could be a good fit.
The position comes with a 37.5-hour work week and shifts aligned to store hours. Stores operate seven days a week, so you’ll need to be flexible to cover a variety of days, including weekends, as business needs change. The company offers a minimum of £28,000 per year and will provide comprehensive training, so you can start confidently even if you’re new to retail.
If you thrive in a fast-moving, customer-focused environment where each interaction matters, this role could suit you. You’ll be encouraged to adapt, connect with people, and stay resilient as you learn the ropes.
Shoppers and solutions on the shop floor
On the shop floor, you’ll help customers pick the right products, answer questions, and guide them through transactions with care. You’ll support after-sales service to ensure a smooth experience and adjust as demand shifts. The day-to-day rhythm will vary with store activity, requiring you to switch gears as needed and keep the flow of customers moving.
Joining a brand that prizes individuality and genuine relationships, you’ll aim to build rapport quickly, bringing energy, empathy, and expertise to every interaction. Your aim is to help each person leave with a solution that fits, not just a sale completed.

Advice for applicants
Lead your resume with the traits this role cares about most: your drive to succeed and the confidence to be yourself. Show how you’ve connected with people in any setting and helped them find solutions, even if you didn’t work in retail before.
In interviews, demonstrate the must-have skills by sharing concise examples of staying calm under pressure, thinking on your feet, driving toward targets, and building real relationships with customers. Look for moments where you helped someone solve a problem or found a quick, effective workaround in a busy situation.
Be ready to discuss scheduling and flexibility, since the stores operate seven days a week and shifts can shift based on demand. Explain clearly how you would cover a 37.5-hour week across different days, including weekends.
When you ask questions, focus on training and progression. You could ask about the training plan, what development opportunities look like within BT Group’s EE brand, and what success in your first 90 days would look like.
