The role also champions community awareness of children’s rights and supports safeguarding improvements across YMCA Brisbane and the National YMCA Movement. To stand out, show recent Learning & Development experience with in person and online delivery, strong facilitation and e‑learning design skills, and proven ability to manage multiple projects. You must have or be willing to obtain a National Police Check, Blue Card, Working with Children Check as applicable, a current driver’s licence, and complete Y’s Safeguarding training.


Y Queensland are recruiting a Safeguarding Advisor on a Permanent Full-Time basis to join our team located in Fortitude Valley

 

As a Safeguarding Advisor with Y Queensland, this role will support the ongoing learning and development of Y people to understand and implement practice, policies and procedures to ensure the ongoing safety and wellbeing of all children and young people accessing Y services. A key aspect of this role will be the development and delivery of high quality, accessible and relevant Safeguarding learning materials and tools to support the development of Safeguarding knowledge and skill of the Y Qld workforce.

 

What will my time look like?

  • Provide expertise and positively role model safeguarding practices to support the continuous growth of the Y’s safeguarding capability.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the continuous improvement of the collective Safeguarding function of YMCA Brisbane and the National YMCA Movement
  • Ensure the immediate and appropriate escalation and reporting of all child safety incidents.
  • Investigate unsafe behaviours, conduct, incidents, allegations and complaints in relation to safeguarding with the support of Human resources
  • Actively advocate for and/or participate in community activities and/or campaigns which promote community-wide awareness of the rights of Children and Young People

 

Am I a good match?

 

  • Excellent problem-solving, conflict management and communication skills including well developed written and oral skills.
  • Demonstrated and recent experience in a Learning & Development role, including in person and online training delivery.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team environment to develop and implement Safeguarding training and resources.
  • High level presentation and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated high-level of computer skills with experience in using eLearning software and creation platforms, desktop publishing, graphic design software and various multimedia tools to successfully develop high quality E-Learning programs.
  • A current valid driver’s license.
  • Currently possess, or be willing to obtain, a National Police Check and positive notice Blue Card in accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000.
  • Completion of the Y’s Safeguarding Children Mandatory Training and complete annual refresher training.
