We are seeking a Sales Planning Analyst to evaluate and review sales data and market trends to provide strategic recommendations that support the sales team and improve overall sales performance. This role requires strong analytical skills, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing teams, finance, and sales. The ideal candidate will be proficient in tools like Excel, SFDC, Tableau, and collaborate with stakeholders to identify market trends, monitor sales performance, and provide actionable recommendations for sales planning.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Analyzing sales data. Reviewing and interpreting complex data sets to identify trends, opportunities, and patterns that inform decision-making processes. 
  • Evaluating market trends. Conducts in-depth market research and analysis to ensure sales strategies align with evolving customer needs and market conditions. 
  • Creating sales reports. Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reporting frameworks using Tableau and Excel to monitor KPIs, sales performance, pipeline health, quota attainment, and productivity metrics. 
  • Supporting the sales team. Partner with sales leadership and teams to refine strategies, improve execution, and support sales goal attainment. 
  • Monitoring pricing strategies. Assess pricing models and profitability, providing recommendations to optimize revenue generation. 
  • Optimizing CRM systems. Leverage CRM data to ensure quality, consistency, and structure required for accurate sales reporting, KPI measurement, and performance insights. 
  • Collaborating with stakeholders. Work with stakeholders across departments to align sales initiatives, data definitions, and analytical methodologies with broader organizational objectives. 
  • Providing actionable insights. Deliver data-driven insights by translating complex data into clear, compelling stories that highlight key performance drivers, business implications, and actionable recommendations to improve sales performance and drive business growth. 

Qualifications and Skills 

  • Education. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, data analysis, or related field. 
  • Experience. 2-5 years of experience in sales analysis, business intelligence, or a related role. 
  • Technical skills. Proficiency in Excel, CRM platforms, SQL, and data visualization tools like Tableau. 
  • Analytical skills. Strong ability to interpret and analyze complex data. 
  • Communication skills. Strong communication and data‑storytelling skills, including the ability to distill complex analyses into concise, executive‑ready narratives that influence decision‑making. 
  • Problem-solving. Adept at identifying issues and recommending effective solutions. 
  • Time management. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. 
  • Certifications. Certifications in data analysis or CRM platforms are a plus. 
  • Collaboration. Experience working with cross-functional teams to achieve business goals. 

 

 

The base salary range across the U.S. for this role is between $92,500-$138,800.  In addition, this role is eligible for a bonus. Black Duck offers a competitive total rewards package. The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of job-related factors, including location, skills, experience, and education.
