The Warehouse Group is inviting a part-time Sales Support 2IC to join the Tauranga Crossing store in Tauranga, New Zealand. The group oversees some of Aotearoa’s best-loved brands, The Warehouse, Warehouse Stationery and Noel Leeming, and is focused on delivering relevant and exciting customer experiences, along with sustainable initiatives. This onsite role is well-suited to someone who enjoys hands-on leadership in a busy retail setting and wants to support a front-of-house team that interacts with customers daily. The position sits with the Tauranga Crossing store family, and the hours currently listed point to Friday and Saturday shifts, with the potential to link with other checkout shifts as needed.

As the Sales Support 2IC, you’ll back the Sales Support Manager in guiding and growing the team that runs the front-of-house operations, the heart of customer service in the store. You’ll also lend a hand with back-of-house tasks, helping to keep internal processes and audits on track and handling daily administrative duties so the store runs smoothly. The right person will bring a strong service mindset and a genuine love for retail, knowing how small details can lift the overall shopping experience for customers and colleagues alike.

If you’re ready for a rewarding challenge in a busy retail environment, this role could be a great fit. It includes weekend work and may link with a variety of checkout shifts, so you’ll want to enjoy a schedule that centres around Friday evenings and Saturday hours.

Guiding the checkout flow on weekends
In practice, the role focuses on supporting the Sales Support Manager to lead and develop a front-of-house team that keeps customer-facing processes running smoothly during peak times. You’ll also contribute to the daily admin and operational routines that underpin store performance, including ensuring that internal audit requirements are met. The aim is to maintain high standards across both the customer experience and the administrative side of the business, so that the store can perform reliably week to week.

What you’ll bring to the role

- A track record of coaching and developing staff to improve service levels
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
- A genuine passion for making both customer and colleague experiences better

Nice-to-haves to set you apart
- Experience coordinating back-of-house tasks or cross-team workflows
- Comfort with daily admin tasks and keeping records tidy
- Flexibility to take on additional checkout shifts as needed
- A focus on enhancing customer and staff experiences in a retail environment

Advice for applicants
Put your largest-scale retail leadership and front-of-house experience up front on your resume, in a brief snapshot that first highlights the scope of the role you’ve held and the impact you made on customer experience. This helps show you can lead a team and manage customer-critical processes from the outset.

When you describe your must-have skills, back them with concrete examples. If you’ve guided a team in a busy checkout environment or contributed to audit-compliance tasks, spell out what you did, the outcome, and how you measured success in service or operations. Emphasise your communication strengths, both written and verbal, and demonstrate how you’ve used them to support colleagues and customers alike.

Prepare for interviews by talking through how you would juggle weekend shifts, coordinate with a Sales Support Manager, and keep front-of-house and back-of-house operations aligned. Have a couple of short scenarios ready that show how you’d handle a busy period, resolve a customer issue, or guide a junior teammate to meet service standards.

Ask a thoughtful question about how the 2IC role interfaces with the Sales Support Manager and how success is measured for front-of-house processes in this store. It signals you’re thinking about real-world impact and how you’d contribute to the team beyond the basics.
