We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst in Amsterdam to support the company in delivering one of our core objectives: becoming profitable. You will be the driving force behind financial data automation and financial insights at Fastned, leveraging your expertise to build robust data products that automate reporting and uncover key financial trends.
You will join a small central team of Data Analysts, Data Scientists and Data Engineers, but will be day-to-day deeply embedded within our Finance & Risk functions as well as our Payments Product & Software Engineering team, acting as the main point of contact within Data for those teams and building strong relationships with your stakeholders. You will also from time to time collaborate with other business teams, sometimes in partnership with another Data Analyst more specialised in their domain, to ensure that we are providing them accurate and actionable financial insights. Therefore, this is a role where you truly have the opportunity to make a cross-functional impact!
As we are a small team, this role is an end-to-end Data Analyst role: it’s not only about uncovering insights and communicating them to your stakeholders, but also about building solid data foundations for facilitating analysis in the future, whether it’s for ourselves, for our analysts community or for AI.
It’s therefore important that you enjoy getting your hands dirty! This means turning any amount and format of data into compelling and actionable insights, as well as thinking about automation and scalability of your assets (dashboards, analysis, data models…) and brainstorming about improvement opportunities with Data Engineers.
Support teams in defining clear financial & productivity goals and in understanding how they are progressing;
Support your stakeholders in evaluating the effect of actions in the past and to set the right priorities for the future;
Drive process changes ensure we collect financial data in a way that makes it actionable for our business teams;
Present findings to drive decisions;
Building reports, visualizations, dashboards, and Analytics AI agents to monitor performance and automate repetitive work;
Improve our data pipelines and data models to facilitate access to financial data and targets.
You are a generalist, who both enjoys exploring data and conveying actionable insights but also enjoys the technical side of the role and loves brainstorming around how we can make analysis more efficient.
Additionally, you tick the following boxes:
Degree in Finance or Accounting (or similar) combined with Professional Experience or Training as a Data Analyst
[or] Degree a technical field (engineering, economics, statistics or similar) combined with some Professional Experience working closely with Financial data and processes;
5+ years of relevant working experience;
Full proficiency with SQL;
Strong stakeholder management experience;
Prior experience with a data transformation tool like dbt, Dataform or SQLMesh;
Prior experience with a BI / dashboard building tool;
Comfortable with basic statistical concepts;
Basic knowledge of Python or R;
You regularly use AI to accelerate your work and you love brainstorming around how you could do more;
(Nice-to-have) Prior experience managing with managing targets data & versioning;
(Nice-to-have) Domain knowledge on payments;
(Nice-to-have) Previous experience working in a fast-paced and fast-changing environment;
