Ko tō tūranga – your role

As the Senior Data Governance Enablement Analyst, your role is to lead the practical adoption and uplift of data governance, data quality, governance frameworks, and compliance-supporting practices across reporting, analytics, AI, operational, and data domains. You’ll help One NZ improve trust, accountability, transparency, compliance readiness, and confidence in data by making ownership, stewardship, business definitions, metadata, quality rules, issue management, remediation activity, control evidence, and governance expectations clear, embedded, measurable, and sustainable.

Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do

• Lead data quality uplift across priority data assets, reports, data products, operational datasets, and key metrics.
• Partner with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Analysts, Engineers, Product Managers, Finance, and SMEs to define critical data, quality rules, thresholds, scorecards, and improvement actions.
• Lead the practical adoption of data governance frameworks, standards, policies, operating rhythms, templates, and playbooks.
• Translate governance framework expectations into clear business and technical actions that are embedded into delivery, reporting, operations, and data product lifecycle practices.
• Coordinate governance evidence, control records, policy mappings, ownership records, classification, access evidence, issue logs, remediation tracking, and audit-supporting documentation.
• Work with risk, compliance, privacy, and security stakeholders to support compliance readiness and strengthen governance practices.
• Lead complex data quality and governance issue management, including impact assessment, prioritisation, triage, root cause analysis, ownership assignment, remediation tracking, closure evidence, and escalation.
• Help Data Owners and Data Stewards clarify accountabilities, document business meaning, agree controls, and embed governance into day-to-day operations.
• Lead governance and data quality reporting, including adoption metrics, scorecards, issue registers, stewardship actions, catalogue completeness, ownership gaps, compliance evidence, control gaps, remediation progress, and maturity indicators.
• Act as a trusted advisor and senior point of support for governance, frameworks, data quality, and compliance matters, facilitating working sessions and guiding teams through practical adoption.

• Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, ownership models, stewardship practices, decision rights, standards, templates, playbooks, forums, and operating rhythms.
• Strong experience with data quality rules, thresholds, monitoring, scorecards, issue management, root cause analysis, remediation planning, and continuous improvement.
• A good understanding of how governance supports compliance, auditability, risk management, privacy, security, classification, access controls, retention, lifecycle management, and responsible data use.
• Strong understanding of ownership, stewardship, business glossaries, critical data elements, metadata, lineage, classification, policy alignment, and governance reporting.
• Strong working knowledge of data catalogues, business glossaries, reporting inventories, semantic definitions, metadata, lineage, control mappings, and documentation practices.
• Good understanding of BI platforms, data pipelines, semantic layers, warehouses, data lakes, cloud platforms, operational data flows, and data product delivery.
• Experience leading governance dashboards, quality scorecards, issue logs, action registers, adoption metrics, control evidence, compliance reporting, and maturity tracking.
• Strong understanding of least-privilege access, sensitive data handling, auditability, policy alignment, risk escalation, and responsible use of data.
• The ability to guide less experienced analysts, support consistent ways of working, contribute to templates and playbooks, and act as a trusted advisor across governance, data quality, and compliance enablement.
