Senior Engineer, Network Security, Deloitte Global Technology
DeloitteDeloitte’s Global Technology team is looking for a Senior Engineer to lead network security initiatives in a permanent role. The position is based in Toronto with a hybrid work model, and Deloitte notes additional available locations across Canada, including Calgary, Ottawa and Vancouver. The reference code for the posting is 135445. This is a chance to join a global professional services leader that backs its people with robust development opportunities and a culture built on flexibility and collaboration.
The role centers on designing, deploying, and managing security solutions for Deloitte’s critical infrastructure and data assets. It suits someone who enjoys working across IT, operations and compliance teams, and who wants to mentor newer engineers while shaping security architecture that aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
What your days could look like
The core of the day is about crafting security architectures and concrete network security designs that fit complex enterprise environments. You’ll document security controls, diagram networks, and map out risk mitigation strategies so engineering and operations teams can deploy secure solutions with confidence. You’ll lead the field in applying advanced cyber defense measures, performing regular assessments, penetration tests, and vulnerability scans to keep threats at bay and maintain a strong security posture.
You’ll also own datacenter security, overseeing physical protections, network segmentation, and access controls, while implementing and managing tools like firewalls, IDS/IPS, and data encryption. Collaboration is a constant: you’ll partner with IT, operations, and compliance to embed security into every facet of the business, and you’ll guide junior security architects and engineers with clear, practical leadership. In addition, you’ll develop and maintain incident response plans, steer containment and recovery efforts during incidents, and conduct post-incident reviews to drive continual improvements. At the governance layer, you’ll help enforce security policies and audits under frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR, and you’ll contribute to documentation and change-control processes in line with CTO standards.
Documentation and knowledge sharing come up frequently, from creating procedures and architectural documents to training new staff and reviewing material with CTO leadership and application teams. This is a role for someone who can translate complex security concepts into plain language for diverse audiences while maintaining rigorous technical standards.

Advice for applicants
Lead your resume with the security work most relevant to this role, your three-plus years in network security and engineering, your hands-on use of Palo Alto and Check Point, and any large-scale enterprise projects where you designed or implemented complex security solutions.
Demonstrate how you prove you can deliver on the must-haves: share concrete examples of security architectures you created, the controls you implemented, and how you measured risk reduction in real terms. Include specifics about any datacenter security initiatives and the collaboration you had with IT, operations, or compliance teams.
Prepare for interviews by mapping your incident response experience to the role: explain how you built or led incident response plans, managed containment and recovery, and conducted root-cause analyses that fed back into policy updates and training.
Ask a precise question about how Deloitte integrates security with its datacenter operations and CTO Standards, and how cross-functional teams collaborate on security policy enforcement and audits. A good query could be about how they balance physical security, network segmentation, and virtualization security in evolving datacenter environments.
