About the Role

You will provide high‑level field and technical support across a diverse portfolio of civil and construction projects, working collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers and Health & Safety teams to drive environmental compliance and best‑practice performance.

Reporting to the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager, yo will be based at our Eagle Farm Head Office with regular travel to project sites as required.

You will play a critical role in both operational delivery and pre‑contracts planning, ensuring environmental considerations are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include developing and reviewing environmental documentation such as Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), erosion and sediment control plans, and statutory approvals.

You will contribute technical expertise to tenders and project planning, support the implementation of CMC’s Environmental Management System, and provide guidance to project teams to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory obligations.

The position also supports organisational reporting, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives led by the HSE Manager.

About You

You are a collaborative, approachable, and confident communicator with the ability to translate complex environmental concepts into clear, actionable guidance for project teams, senior leaders, regulators, and community stakeholders.

You will also have the following qualifications, experience & skills


Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent discipline;
  • Current Construction White Card;
  • ICAM (Basic) or equivalent incident-investigation or root cause analysis training (desirable);
  • Internal/Lead Auditor certification;
  • Certified Practicing Erosion and Sediment Control certification (highly regarded) or associated training modules (desirable).


Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in an on-site environmental advisory, coordination, or compliance role within civil construction, infrastructure, heavy industry, or mining, providing operational and strategic environmental support across multiple concurrent projects;
  • Demonstrated experience preparing, implementing, and maintaining Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), risk registers, environmental procedures, and supporting documentation aligned with project and regulatory requirements;
  • A strong understanding of QLD and NSW environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks, approval pathways, and compliance obligations;
  • Proven environmental compliance leadership, including conducting site inspections, monitoring programs, and compliance assessments; identifying non‑conformances; implementing corrective actions; and driving continuous improvement initiatives;
  • The ability to support and influence multiple projects, effectively balance competing priorities, deliver high‑quality environmental advice under time pressure, and maintain strong compliance and reporting performance.
