Your role

 

Established in July 2025, the Office for Youth connects the NSW Government with young people, ensuring their voices influence policy. Through accessible engagement platforms and a focus on consultation, co‑design, expert advice, stakeholder support and innovation, it works to create meaningful, lasting impact.

 

The Senior Executive Officer delivers high‑level executive and project support to the Advocate and Office for Youth, including strategic advice, communication management and implementing initiatives that support the organisation’s strategic and operational objectives.

 

What you’ll do

 

You will develop, implement, monitor and report on operational and project plans to support informed decision‑making and the achievement of organisational objectives. The role also leads and contributes to key projects that drive organisation‑level strategic and operational priorities.

  • Develop and oversee administrative systems, practices and procedures to improve efficiency and support high‑quality outcomes.
  • Lead communications projects, including planning logistics, budgets, resources and reporting, to ensure effective communication with the community.
  • Oversee and review high‑level communications and correspondence—such as briefings, reports, submissions and notes—to ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
  • Provide issues management and support by responding to emerging matters and ensuring effective resolution with minimal organisational risk.

 

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • Operational & Systems Leadership: Able to build and improve systems and processes so the team works efficiently, even when timelines are tight or resources are limited.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently: Comfortable managing communication projects and producing high‑quality written work, like briefings, reports and updates that are accurate, timely and easy to understand.
  • Issue Resolution with Sound Judgement and Diplomacy: Assess emerging issues early, manage sensitive or complex matters, and resolve problems while maintaining confidentiality, good judgment and diplomacy.
  • Drive consistent, efficient operational delivery: Able to gather information from different sources, understand legislation or technical detail, and provide clear, reliable advice to support decision‑making.
