Senior Field Services Representative
ManTechManTech is seeking a Senior Field Services Representative to join its vehicle sustainment team in Lingenfeld, Germany, supporting the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program. The role focuses on maintaining multiple families of vehicles for global operations, combining hands-on maintenance with system troubleshooting in a defense setting. This onsite, full-time position sits with a company that has partnered with the Department of Defense since 1968 on cybersecurity, IT, data analytics and other critical projects. If you’re skilled at maintenance operations and enjoy working across engineering and operations to keep complex systems mission-ready, this could be a fit for you.
In this role, you’ll be deeply involved in planning and directing maintenance activities, coordinating with various teams to ensure that U.S. systems and subsystems meet mission requirements. You’ll apply standard troubleshooting methods to locate and repair faults, maintain system baselines and configuration items, and support ongoing improvements to processes and policies. Your work will influence the reliability of key assets on the ALECS program, with collaboration across stakeholders to deliver complete and functioning systems.
Important notes accompany the opportunity: candidates must have or be able to obtain an active Germany/E.U. work visa to be considered. If selected and lacking an active visa, you’ll start in a temporary role for about 60 days while securing the visa, after which you’ll transition to a full-time German contract with the appropriate taxes and healthcare under German law. The role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance, and local nationals in Germany must meet LNSP requirements or be eligible to obtain one. The posting also lists onsite work in Lingenfeld and a full-time schedule.
Day-to-day operations on the ALECS program
Day-to-day duties center on ensuring reliable maintenance operations for designated technical units. You’ll direct and coordinate activities, provide hands-on support for operations, troubleshooting, engineering, installation and repair of U.S. systems down to the component level, and apply disciplined troubleshooting procedures to isolate faulty parts. You’ll work with other stakeholders to validate that systems are complete and meet mission criteria, while keeping baselines and security-related policies up to date. In addition, you’ll monitor configuration and maintenance events and look for opportunities to improve how processes and policies are applied on the floor.
Beyond core duties, you’ll be expected to handle related tasks as they arise, keeping a steady focus on safety, quality and timely delivery. The environment is collaborative, and you’ll be called on to balance hands-on work with documentation and coordination across teams to ensure consistent results across the fleet.
What it takes to join the team
- You must either already hold or be able to obtain an active Germany/E.U. work visa.
- You’ll bring a high school diploma or GED plus at least six years of experience in maintenance operations, including maintenance and repair of commercial or military equipment.
- You have hands-on experience applying industry or military standard troubleshooting procedures to isolate faulty system components.
- You’re comfortable using a range of hand tools, diagnostic tools, power tools and multimeters.
- You can pass a pre-employment drug screening, hold a valid driver’s license for the work location, and possess a passport valid for at least one year beyond the start date.
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance before starting, and local German hires should have a current favorable LNSP or be eligible to obtain one.
- Physical demands include the ability to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch and kneel, push and pull, work in high-noise areas, lift up to 50 pounds, and use computers or CRTs as part of daily work.
- Experience on non-tactical or commercial vehicle fleets and/or military fleets with light or heavy-duty trucks, tractors, tactical vehicles, ground systems, generators or other diesel or gasoline-powered equipment.
- Technical support experience with complex U.S. military ground systems.
- Familiarity with office productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- A self-starter mindset with strong people skills and the ability to drive change across teams.
Compensation, benefits and practical details
The role’s projected compensation is between $21.60 and $54.10 per hour, with the final rate influenced by factors like contract wage determinations, relevant experience, skills and certifications, geographic location, education and certifications, and federal contract labor categories. In addition to pay, ManTech offers benefits that may include health and life insurance, paid time off, holiday pay, short- and long-term disability, retirement and savings options, learning and development opportunities, wellness programs and other voluntary benefits depending on the position.
The position is full-time and onsite in Lingenfeld, Germany, with visa and clearance requirements described above. If you meet the required criteria, you’ll join a team addressing critical defense needs, with a path that could include a German contract after visa approval and eligibility for local tax and healthcare systems.
Advice for applicants
Lead your resume with your eligibility to work in Germany. Put your visa status front and center, and note whether you already hold a Germany/E.U. work visa or are pursuing one, along with any relevant permits or LNSP status.
When you describe your must-have skills, back them with concrete examples. If you’ve planned and directed maintenance operations before, or if you’ve applied standard troubleshooting procedures in a complex platform, mention the exact tools you used and the outcomes you achieved.
Prepare to discuss real-world scenarios in interviews. Be ready to explain how you localized a fault in a U.S. system, how you maintained baselines, or how you coordinated with engineering and operations to meet mission requirements under time pressure.
Finally, bring a thoughtful question to the table. Ask about the visa transition timeline, how the LNSP process is handled for local hires, and what success looks like on the ALECS program in the first year.
