  • Salary: Clerk 9/10, $ 129,464.00 to $ 142,665.00pa. + super + leave loading

 

Shape strategic financial outcomes across major programs

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join the Strategy Reform and Support team within the Office of the Executive Director at the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).

This is a high-impact role where you will provide expert financial advice, lead analysis across complex programs, and support informed decision-making at a senior level. You will play a key role in overseeing financial performance across both operational and capital projects, including major digital and infrastructure initiatives.

About the Role

Reporting to the Business Manager, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and work closely with stakeholders across the business, central finance, Shared Services and Finance Business Partners.

You will:

  • Deliver strategic financial advice to senior executives.
  • Provide input to budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities.
  • Provide financial oversight of operational and capital projects, including capitalisation and compliance requirements.
  • Support investment decision-making through financial modelling, costing, and funding analysis
  • Provide advice on financial governance, accounting standards, and policy compliance.
  • Build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across the division.

 

What We’re Looking For

We’d like to hear from candidates who can bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Commerce or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualifications – CAANZ or CPAA, extensive experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with capital programs, projects, or complex portfolios is desirable
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex financial information and present it clearly.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and advise at a senior level.
  • Strong systems capability, including advanced Excel; experience with financial systems (e.g. SAP or similar) is desirable.
