Full-time
On-site
Austin, TX
$45,000 - $110,000 USD yearly

Wipro Limited, a global technology services and consulting company, is expanding its Austin team with a Senior Front-End Engineer who specialises in React and live streaming. The role sits onsite in Austin, TX, and is a great fit for someone who loves turning real-time video into smooth, responsive user experiences. The company is a long-time partner in digital transformation, with more than 230,000 employees across 65 countries, and a track record of helping clients build future-ready solutions.

You’ll join a team focused on delivering high-performance, real-time web interfaces for live-streaming platforms. If you enjoy polishing the details of a streaming UI, ensuring reliable playback across devices and browsers, and blending video workflows with engaging front-end experiences, this could be a strong match. The work blends React and TypeScript with live video technologies to create compelling viewer experiences.

Shaping live streaming experiences in the browser

You’ll build scalable front-end applications using React and TypeScript, aiming for fast, responsive interfaces that can handle real-time data and video delivery. You’ll craft pixel-perfect UI components that power live-streaming experiences and work on video players and playback workflows to ensure smooth, cross-device performance. Real-time features like live chat, reactions, and polls will be built using WebSockets or SSE, keeping audiences engaged as streams unfold.

Guided by a component-driven approach, you’ll develop broadcaster interfaces that utilise browser media APIs for webcam, microphone, and screen sharing. You’ll also focus on performance optimization, reducing bundle size, streamlining state management, and keeping rendering efficient across browsers. The role calls for attention to browser quirks to maintain reliable playback for a broad audience.

What you’ll bring to the table

You’ll need a solid foundation in front-end engineering, with a strong emphasis on React and TypeScript, plus hands-on experience shaping complex UI with modern state management. The team expects you to be adept at building reusable components and custom hooks, and to test UI code with Jest and React Testing Library. On the streaming side, while not strictly required, deep familiarity with live-video workflows and media playback will set you apart.

  • Four or more years of professional React development experience
  • Strong proficiency with TypeScript
  • Experience managing state with Redux, Zustand, or Context API
  • Solid know-how in responsive UI development using CSS-in-JS tools like Styled Components, Emotion, Tailwind, or similar
  • Experience creating reusable components, custom React hooks, and taking a component-driven approach
  • Frontend testing experience using Jest and React Testing Library

Streaming & media experience – highly preferred

  • Hands-on work with live-video streaming technologies such as HLS, MPEG-DASH, or WebRTC
  • Knowledge of HTML5 video and Media Source Extensions (MSE)
  • Familiarity with browser Media APIs such as navigator.mediaDevices
  • Experience integrating or customizing video players like Hls.js, Video.js, or Shaka Player
  • Experience with asynchronous data streams and real-time tech such as WebSockets

Nice to have

  • Experience building streaming analytics or dashboards that track video QoS metrics such as startup time and bitrate
  • Knowledge of cloud-based video ingestion or transcoding platforms like AWS Elemental, Mux, or Livepeer
  • Strong UI/UX sense and experience with animation libraries such as Framer Motion

Key skills gathered for this role include React, TypeScript, HLS, WebRTC, MPEG-DASH, MSE, Hls.js, Video.js, Shaka Player, WebSockets, HTML5 Video, Redux/Zustand, Jest, and React Testing Library.

Guidance for applicants

Lead with your React and streaming experience on your resume. Put the strongest evidence of 4+ years of React work and TypeScript at the top, and include any projects where you built live-streaming features or viewer interfaces. If you’ve worked on live video, call that out first so the reader sees it immediately.

Show concrete proof of your must-have skills. Include descriptions of state management implementations (Redux, Zustand, or Context API), how you built responsive UIs with CSS-in-JS, and examples where you used Jest and React Testing Library to verify UI behavior. Where possible, link to live projects or a GitHub repo that demonstrates these capabilities.

Prepare to talk through real-time and streaming decisions in interviews. Be ready to discuss how you would architect a live streaming UI, the video playback stack you’ve used (player choices, MSE implications), and how you handle cross-browser compatibility and performance tuning for streaming workloads.

Ask a targeted question that ties to the specifics of this role. For example: what live streaming stack is currently in use, and how do you measure and improve video QoS in production dashboards? Also ask how the team balances broadcaster and viewer experiences in a single UI, and what success looks like for the front-end in the first six months.
