$138,000 - $170,000 CAD yearly

Teck Resources Limited is looking for a Senior Lead, Reliability to join its Vancouver team. The role sits in Teck’s downtown office, a hub for the company’s corporate functions, in a city known for its oceanside setting and mountain backdrop. The company focuses on responsibly providing metals essential for global development and the energy transition, with a culture built on respect and inclusion. This position is a regular full-time role based in Vancouver, and the work arrangement is onsite.

The Senior Lead, Reliability will drive enterprise-level reliability improvements across operating sites, with a primary emphasis on boosting maintenance availability, cutting equipment downtime, and sharpening maintenance strategies for critical fixed and mobile assets. You’ll work closely with site Maintenance, Reliability, Planning, Operations and Engineering teams to uncover the main causes of lost availability, diagnose underlying equipment and maintenance issues, and translate that into a prioritized set of actions that deliver measurable asset-performance improvements. Using health and operational data, failure history, delays and other performance metrics, you’ll identify chronic losses and bad actors, challenge ineffective maintenance practices, optimize preventive and predictive maintenance approaches, and help sites close reliability gaps. Central Asset Management standards and reliability methods should translate into sustained gains in uptime, reliability and lifecycle performance across the network.

If you enjoy turning data into practical improvements and mentoring others to lift site performance, this could be a great fit.

Maintaining momentum across Teck’s operations

You’ll lead reliability initiatives at an enterprise level, guiding both fixed and mobile assets through a disciplined approach to maintenance and condition-based monitoring. The role requires turning equipment health, failure history and operating data into prioritized action plans, and supporting sites as they implement changes. You’ll use your insights to challenge current maintenance practices, refine preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and partner with engineering, operations and planning teams to ensure maintenance work aligns with reliability targets. Your work will help ensure that reliability standards are understood and applied, driving lasting improvements in asset availability and lifecycle performance across Teck’s operating network.

Must-have requirements, and what could help you stand out

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience
  • About ten years or more of maintenance, reliability, or engineering work in mining, mineral processing, heavy industry, or another asset-intensive setting
  • A proven record of boosting equipment reliability and maintenance availability in a live operating environment
  • A solid, hands-on grasp of how maintenance gets executed, how equipment fails, and how reliability improvements are achieved
  • Experience collaborating directly with site Maintenance and Operations teams to deliver lasting equipment-performance gains
  • Solid knowledge of reliability methods such as RCM, FMEA, RCA, bad-actor elimination, defect elimination, and condition monitoring
  • Experience performing availability and downtime analysis, MTBF and MTTR studies, Pareto analyses, repeat-failure analyses, and assessing planned versus unplanned maintenance performance
  • Ability to translate equipment, maintenance and operating data into prioritized improvement actions
  • Proficiency with CMMS or EAM systems, reliability KPIs, and analytical or visualization tools
  • Influence without direct authority across operating sites and cross-functional teams
  • The ability to present technical findings in a way that clearly informs business and operational priorities for both technical and senior audiences

Advice for applicants

Lead with your degree and years of relevant experience. In your resume, place your degree and a clear picture of roughly a decade of work in maintenance, reliability, or engineering in asset-heavy settings up front, so a recruiter can see you meet the core requirements at a glance.

Show concrete examples of the must-have skills. Describe projects where you improved equipment reliability or maintenance availability, highlighting the methods you used (RCM, FMEA, RCA, condition monitoring) and the outcomes you achieved with measurable results.

Be ready to discuss cross-functional impact. Have a few stories ready about working with site Maintenance, Planning, Scheduling, Operations and Engineering teams to implement changes that delivered sustained improvements in asset performance.

Ask about how reliability findings are translated into business priorities. A smart question could be about how Central Asset Management standards are implemented across sites and how reliability insights are turned into prioritized actions for multiple teams.

When you present interview examples, tie them to the job's focus on availability, downtime reduction and lifecycle performance. Bring metrics and visuals that show the before-and-after impact of your initiatives.
