We are currently hiring Senior Legal Counsel to be based in Netherlands
As a (Senior) Legal Counsel, your mission is to ensure that legal risks in the Netherlands are properly identified, addressed, and mitigated. You will play a key role in building and maintaining a robust contract framework that supports the offering of Epassi’s services and enables sustainable growth in a fast-scaling, international environment.
Your responsibilities will be:
- Acting as the primary legal point of contact for all legal matters in the Netherlands
- Ensuring compliance with local, EU, and international laws and regulations
- Supporting Epassi’s growth strategy, including M&A activities and post-merger integration
- Implementing and embedding group-wide legal and compliance frameworks locally
You’ll be successful in this role if you:
- Are able to influence business stakeholders and drive harmonized legal processes
- Proactively identify legal risks and translate them into practical business solutions
- Successfully introduce new templates, frameworks, and compliance processes
- Build trust across departments and operate as a true business partner
What you’ll be doing (daily):
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, agreements, and policies
- Advising internal stakeholders on legal implications of commercial and strategic decisions
- Ensuring compliance with tax regulations related to employee benefits
- Supporting the Group DPO on data protection matters, including GDPR compliance and DPAs
- Managing disputes and liaising with external legal counsel when required
- Drafting corporate resolutions and ensuring compliance with corporate governance standards
- Conducting legal risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies
What you should bring:
- A Dutch law degree and qualification as a lawyer in the Netherlands
- 3–6 years of professional legal experience, preferably in-house or at a reputable law firm
- Strong expertise in contract law and corporate law
- Solid understanding of GDPR; experience in fintech or regulated payment institutions is a strong plus
- Experience with Belgian legal matters is appreciated
- Experience working in international or multi-jurisdictional environments
Your language profile:
- Fluent in Dutch and English (written and spoken)
- Additional language skills especially French is a plus
Your track record:
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams with pragmatic legal advice
- Track record of improving legal visibility, processes, and compliance structures
