In this role, you'll:


Working at the intersection of strategic defense and technical execution, this role will see you apply your expertise to lead a specialised cyber engineering support team focused on cutting-edge security tools and platform operations across Transport for NSW.


This role will see you drive the technical direction and overall cyber strategy for vital domains—including EDR, privileged access management, and vulnerability management (Qualys)—while serving as a key escalation point for the Director. 

 

You will lead the end-to-end uplift of security capabilities, embedding secure design, and ensuring all systems are designed and operated to withstand, recover from, and adapt to evolving cyber threats. 

 
You’ll have opportunities to bridge the gap between deeply skilled engineers and operational technology (OT) stakeholders, aligning processes with modern industry standards and enterprise platform strategies.

About you


You are a strategic yet technically grounded cyber security leader who excels in a complex enterprise environment where support levels, emerging vulnerabilities, and system resilience must be proactively managed.


 
Your extensive experience in operating enterprise security controls, combined with a solid understanding of industry frameworks (such as NIST, ISO 27001, and the Essential Eight), will see you excel in translating complex technical risks into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders. 


 
You are a proven people leader who is comfortable guiding and mentoring engineers while engaging effectively across architecture, threat intelligence, risk, and platform teams to deliver integrated, scalable solutions.


 
You’re recognised as a trusted cyber specialist and collaborator, skilled at building alignment across business and technology domains, and experienced in driving continuous improvement to strengthen organisational cyber posture at scale.

 

This is a Position of Trust and will require the successful applicant to hold Australian citizenship and to obtain and maintain a BASELINE Commonwealth security clearance under the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework.
