Are you an experienced payroll professional who thrives on accuracy, compliance, and delivering great service?

We're looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our People & Capability team and play a key role in ensuring our Support Centre payroll is processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with best practice. This is an opportunity to work in a collaborative, future-focused environment where your expertise will make a real difference to our people every pay cycle.

You'll take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing for our Support Centre salaried team while supporting weekly payrolls when required. You'll ensure payroll is delivered accurately, on time, and in compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing end-to-end payroll processing and employee lifecycle changes
  • Processing new starters, transfers, terminations, and organisational restructures
  • Validating employment and policy changes for payroll compliance
  • Managing manual and special payments as required
  • Preparing payroll reporting, reconciliations, and General Ledger journals
  • Completing IRD payday filing and statutory compliance activities
  • Supporting superannuation, ACC, and related payroll obligations
  • Managing payroll queries through ServiceNow
  • Contributing to payroll projects, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting annual remuneration processes and pay reviews

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Proven payroll experience within a medium to large organisation
  • Experience working with PayGlobal would be a bonus
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand payroll legislation, including the Holidays Act, PAYE, ACC, and parental leave requirements
  • Experience interpreting employment agreements and applying payroll policies accurately
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • The ability to explain complex payroll concepts clearly and confidently
  • Strong planning, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • A continuous improvement mindset and curiosity to identify better ways of working
  • A collaborative approach, while also being comfortable working independently and remotely when required
