Job Description

The team

As a part of the Cloud Enablement team, we address common cloud engineering challenges enabling teams to innovate and deliver solutions at speed and scale.

You will do plenty of hands-on coding and also have opportunities to help shape broader patterns and practices through the tools and platforms we design and implement across SEEK.

The team consists of Platform Engineers, Software Engineers and FinOps analysts who play an important role to keep our cloud platform stable, secure and optimised. We provide the building blocks to solve problems once for SEEK. We provide guidance to make it easier for teams to use cloud technology, supporting faster, more independent delivery and business transformation. The Senior Platform Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager in the Cloud Enablement team.

As a Senior Platform Engineer in our Cloud Enablement team, you will be a driving force behind building SEEK's GCP capability from the ground up, establishing the patterns, guardrails, and platforms that will define how SEEK engineers build and deliver on GCP for years to come. Responsibilities 

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure on GCP using Terraform.
• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines in Buildkite to support engineering teams with fast, safe, and automated deployments.
• Act as a subject matter expert and internal consultant for platform and infrastructure decisions, partnering with product engineering teams.
• Define and uphold platform engineering standards, including security, networking, observability, and cost optimisation best practices.
• Identify and drive infrastructure improvements, proactively reducing toil through automation and tooling.
• Respond to and resolve platform incidents, contributing to post-incident reviews and implementing preventative measures. This role does have an on-call support component
• Mentor and uplift the broader engineering community on cloud and infrastructure best practices.
• Manage and optimise GCP costs, providing visibility and recommendations to engineering and leadership stakeholders.

Qualifications

Skills and experience 

• Proven senior-level GCP experience, including production management of core infrastructure such as GKE, IAM, VPCs, Shared VPC architectures, Organisation Policies, and centralised secret management at enterprise scale.
• Production-grade Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, including writing, testing, and managing custom reusable modules at scale across complex, multi-environment cloud landscapes.
• Strong platform and infrastructure engineering background, with hands-on experience architecting scalable, resilient, and secure cloud-native solutions across enterprise GCP environments.
• Hands-on CI/CD pipeline design and management using tools such as Buildkite, incorporating security controls including branch protections, repository access management, and automated vulnerability scanning.
• Scripting and automation proficiency in Python and/or Go, complemented by advanced Bash scripting to drive infrastructure automation, tooling, and operational efficiency.
• AI/ML infrastructure expertise, including orchestration and management of Vertex AI platforms, Gemini model deployments, MLOps workflows, and data cataloging and governance solutions.
• Multi-cloud and hybrid connectivity capability, with experience building secure, federated pipelines and data flows between GCP and AWS, including Cross-Cloud Interconnect and Workload Identity Federation (WIF).
