The Building Intelligence Group is seeking a Senior Project Manager for a full-time, onsite role in Wellington, New Zealand. You’ll lead a dynamic portfolio of 3 Waters and infrastructure resilience projects, guiding work from feasibility through to delivery and handover. TBIG is 100% New Zealand owned with a long track record of major infrastructure delivery, and relocation support is available for the right person.

You’ll join a supportive local team that sits within a larger national business that looks after its people. Wellington offers a superb lifestyle with coastlines, bush-clad hills and a vibrant city core, making this a role where meaningful work and a balanced life can go hand in hand. If you’re open to relocating, TBIG can help you settle in.

The role is designed for an experienced project manager who can steer complex stakeholder environments, keep delivery on track across the full lifecycle, and stay hands-on when needed, whether it’s issuing construction instructions, running meetings or delivering clear client reporting.

You’ll be involved across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility to delivery and handover. You’ll provide strong leadership and strategic oversight, while also rolling up your sleeves to handle day-to-day tasks, including issuing CI’s, leading meetings and keeping clients well informed through straightforward reporting.

Working in a landscape with multiple partners and regulators, you’ll lead through all delivery stages on high-impact work, coordinating design and technical teams and managing the project consenting process to keep momentum and quality high.

What you bring to the table

Here are the non-negotiables you should demonstrate on your CV.

  • Around eight or more years of postgraduate experience in civil engineering, project delivery or construction management, including time spent as a consultant or client-side project manager, with a proven track record as the client’s representative on complex infrastructure projects.

  • Qualifications in a STEM field, such as Civil Engineering or Construction Project Management.

  • A current driver’s license and a willingness to travel to project sites locally and in the wider region.

  • Experience delivering civil infrastructure projects through all stages, with a focus on 3 Waters assets; delivering building projects is a bonus.

  • Strong leadership coordinating design and technical teams and managing multiple stakeholders, including the project consenting process.

  • Proven ability to challenge concepts, resolve problems and provide practical solutions.

  • Detailed knowledge and preparation of robust contract documents, correspondence and reporting, with NZS3910/NZS3916 contracts experience acting as Engineer’s Representative.

  • Strong understanding of relevant New Zealand building regulations and legislation, and a clear focus on health and safety.
