We're looking for an experienced Senior Sales & Service Consultant to join our Christchurch Travel Centre team.

This is a hands-on senior role where you'll deliver exceptional customer service while supporting team performance, driving sales, managing complex bookings, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. You'll act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on customer enquiries, disruption management, booking processes, and industry best practice.

Working with Great Journeys New Zealand and Interislander customers, you'll help turn enquiries into bookings while delivering outstanding customer experiences every step of the way.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing B2B and B2C enquiries from initial contact through to confirmed bookings
  • Driving sales and maximising conversion opportunities
  • Accurately processing bookings, amendments, refunds, and payments
  • Supporting customers during service disruptions and operational changes
  • Providing guidance on complex enquiries and travel arrangements
  • Monitoring sales and customer trends to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and team capability development

Roster: This role operates on a 7-day roster, with shifts between 6:30am and 5:00pm, including weekends, public holidays, and on-call support when required.

You'll have experience in tourism, travel, hospitality, contact centres, or another customer-focused environment, along with:

  • Proven sales and customer service experience
  • A current Full Class 1 New Zealand Driver Licence
  • Flexibility to work a roster that includes weekends, public holidays, and on-call requirements
  • The ability to travel between KiwiRail locations as required
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify sales opportunities
  • Experience managing complex customer enquiries and bookings
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence analysing information, identifying trends, and solving problems
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • The ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous coaching, mentoring, or team support experience is highly desirable
