Google in Zurich is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Tools and Infrastructure to build scalable backend and testing tooling for Calendar Serving and Search Quality. You’ll work on the Calendar Backend Serving stack, including the data model, Spanner storage, CoreAPI, Rosy, CalDav, and integration with the workspace search stack, with a strong focus on reliability, low latency and data consistency. Ideal candidates have 3-5 years of software development experience in Python, C, C++, Java or JavaScript and 1-3 years of ML exposure, plus familiarity with Search Infrastructure or Search Quality, Google Workspace and ML. Minimum qualifications:

The Calendar Backend Serving team is responsible for Calendar's synchronous backend serving stack, focusing on real-time request and response handling. This includes managing the data model, Spanner storage, low-level business logic, and ensuring reliability, low latency, and data consistency. The team develops and maintains critical internal and external APIs, such as CoreAPI, Rosy, and CalDav, as well as the integration into the workspace agentic search stack.The Google Cloud AI Research team addresses AI challenges motivated by Google Cloud’s mission of bringing AI to tech, healthcare, finance, retail and many other industries. We work on a range of unique problems focused on research topics that maximize scientific and real-world impact, aiming to push the state-of-the-art in AI and share findings with the broader research community. We also collaborate with product teams to bring innovations to real-world impact that benefits our customers.
