The Structured Asset Solutions team is a center of expertise within the Financial Solutions (Fin Sol) global team supporting the 3 Fin Sol regional (APAC, EMEA and US) teams when they deal with solutions where asset, credit risks and related cross-border complications are material.

Reporting to the Global Head of Structured Asset Solutions, the Senior Structurer – Structured Asset Solutions contributes to the origination, structuring, analysis and execution of reinsurance solutions where asset risk is material. 

The role will help extending SCOR L&H’s franchise of Fin Sol with a new offer of reinsurance solutions addressing client needs for business with inherent biometric and financial market risk considerations.

The role works closely with Financial Solutions regional teams, Group ALM, Finance, Risk, Legal, Accounting and external partners to design robust transaction structures aligned with SCOR’s risk appetite, strategic priorities and operational requirements. 

The role is positioned as a senior individual contributor and recognized expert in its domain, providing technical guidance, shaping transaction approaches and supporting senior stakeholder discussions across markets.

1. Origination & Client Solutions

  • Originate, design and develop tailored Structured Asset Solutions (SAS) and Financial Solutions transactions addressing clients' capital, accounting, balance sheet and risk management objectives.

  • Lead strategic discussions with clients and counterparties and contribute to the growth of SCOR's Structured Asset Solutions franchise.

  • Represent SCOR externally through client engagements, industry events and thought leadership initiatives.

 

2. Transaction Structuring & Execution

  • Lead the structuring and execution of complex and non-standard reinsurance transactions involving material asset, credit and market risks.

  • Design transaction structures and assess economics, risk transfer, capital implications, accounting treatment, ALM considerations and operational feasibility, or risk mitigation though hedging for example.

  • Oversee transaction analysis, due diligence, negotiations, internal approvals and implementation through to successful execution.

  • Provide expert judgment on complex technical issues and develop pragmatic solutions to transaction challenges.

 

3. Stakeholder Management & Governance

  • Act as the lead structuring partner across Financial Solutions, ALM, Investments, Treasury, Finance, Risk, Legal and Accounting team.

  • Prepare and present transaction recommendations, business cases and approval materials to senior management and governance committees.

  • Drive alignment across stakeholders and influence strategic decision-making on key transactions.

 

4. Product Development & Platform Optimisation

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of SCOR's Structured Asset Solutions offering by identifying market opportunities and evolving client needs.

  • Monitor financial markets, regulatory developments and industry trends to inform transaction structuring and product innovation.

  • Support the optimisation of SCOR's financial platform, capital deployment and risk transfer capabilities, including oversight of in-force SAS transactions.

 

5. Technical Leadership & Market Expertise

  • Serve as a recognised subject matter expert in Structured Asset Solutions across SCOR.

  • Establish and promote structuring standards, methodologies and best practices to support consistent and efficient execution.

  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge sharing across the Financial Solutions community globally.

  • Promote SCOR's expertise through training, publications and external market engagement.

The role requires substantial experience in complex financial services, preferably with exposure to life insurance, life reinsurance, structured finance, capital solutions, ALM, actuarial consulting, investment banking or asset-intensive reinsurance. 

 

A typical experience level would be approximately 8–12+ years, with demonstrated ability to operate independently on technically complex matters and influence senior stakeholders without formal authority.

 

Strong understanding of life insurance or reinsurance balance sheets, structured reinsurance concepts, asset risk transfer, ALM, capital frameworks, accounting implications and transaction execution. Strong financial modelling, analytical and commercial judgment are required, together with the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear recommendations for business and governance stakeholders.
