Senior to Principal Power Systems Engineer

As New Zealand accelerates its transition to a low-carbon future, we are seeking a Senior to Principal Power Systems Engineer to join our growing Power team. This role will see you working on grid connection and commissioning studies for renewable generation projects including wind, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake power system studies for renewable energy projects, including load flow, fault level, transient stability, EMT and harmonic analysis
  • Develop, validate and maintain network models using DigSILENT PowerFactory and PSCAD
  • Support grid connection processes, including compliance with Transpower and EDB requirements and relevant grid codes
  • Contribute to the design and optimisation of renewable generation and energy storage systems
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports and documentation for clients and stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across New Zealand and global projects
  • Engage with clients, supporting technical discussions and delivering innovative solutions

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in power systems engineering within renewables, utilities, consulting or heavy industry
  • Hands-on experience with DigSILENT PowerFactory and PSCAD
  • Strong understanding of power system analysis, modelling and Python scripting
  • Experience supporting grid connection studies for wind, solar or BESS projects is highly regarded
  • Familiarity with New Zealand or international grid codes and standards
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage competing priorities
