On a typical day you’ll diagnose electrical and mechanical faults on site machines, including hydraulic issues, and carry out both major and minor services as required. You’ll handle maintenance and component replacements across the equipment under your responsibility, and you’ll complete machine health assessments with proper reporting. Documentation matters here, so you’ll ensure timesheets and maintenance requests and any other site paperwork are accurate and up to date.

Advice for applicants
Put your trade credentials up front on your resume. Lead with your qualification as a Diesel or Mobile Plant Mechanic and list the exact certificates you hold, Certificate III Mobile Plant Technology, Certificate III Engineering (Mechanical), Certificate III Engineering (Mechanical) Diesel Fitter, and Certificate III Automotive Electrical Technology.
Demonstrate your diagnostics and fault-finding strengths with concrete examples from past roles. Describe the systems you worked on, the steps you took to identify the fault, and the outcome, especially if you’ve handled heavy equipment similar to Liebherr machines.
In interviews, be ready to walk through a recent service or repair you led. Explain your diagnostic approach, the problems you encountered, the actions you took, and how you documented the work, including timesheets and maintenance requests, and how you kept stakeholders informed.
Ask about team structure and on-site support, and inquire about training and development opportunities that help you maintain your skills and progress within Liebherr.
