The Opportunity

Our Slabmaking team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility are looking for a Shift Electrician. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

You will join a cross-functional team that ensures equipment is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for quality and reliability. In this critical role, you will be able to use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes, whilst ensuring your safety and that of your colleagues are a priority.

This is a shift position working on a 4 on, 4 off 12-hour rotating roster, consisting of rotating days and night shifts, Monday through to Sunday. 

What will you do?

With your proven understanding of industrial electrical systems, in this role you will:

  • follow the safe system of work and develop isolation instructions and job safety analysis for the required work
  • perform safe, efficient and effective emergency repairs
  • fault-find on electrical equipment including PLC’s, drives and instrumentation systems
  • support automated cranes and advanced robotics, and utilise innovative digital technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity
  • perform equipment inspections, identify improvement opportunities and report on findings

You will have: 

  • electrical trade qualifications
  • current A Grade NSW Electrical License
  • experience working with PLC’s and drives
  • a strong commitment to safety
