Designing connected systems in Helmond
In this role, you’ll design integrated electro-mechanical systems that fuse hardware, firmware and software to support automation, robotics and smart industrial equipment. The work blends theory with hands-on implementation, turning complex ideas into practical, scalable solutions.
You’ll shape system-level approaches for automation and robotics and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration and on-time project delivery. You’ll decide on sensors, actuators, motors, PLCs and embedded controllers, define the architecture and technical specifications, and make sure everything complies with industry standards such as ISO, IEC, UL and CE.
You’ll also bring Industrial IoT and cloud-based monitoring into play for monitoring and predictive maintenance, helping teams improve automation across facilities. You’ll lead proof-of-concept developments, validate performance through testing and rigorous validation, and push forward innovations in Industry 4.0 technologies.
The core toolkit you’ll bring
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics or a related field.
- At least seven years of experience in industrial automation, robotics, electro-mechanical system design, or a related engineering field.
- Deep knowledge of electro-mechanical system integration, PLC/SCADA/DCS, embedded systems and real-time control.
- Experience with motion control, power electronics, Industrial IoT, cloud platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT), and industrial communication protocols (PROFINET, Modbus, CAN, EtherNet/IP).
- Familiarity with CAD and simulation tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS and COMSOL.
- Understanding of industrial cybersecurity standards (IEC 62443, NIST, ISO 27001).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, plus the ability to lead cross-functional teams with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
Advice for applicants
Lead your resume with your strongest alignment to this role: your degree in a relevant field and at least seven years in industrial automation or related engineering, clearly tying to mechatronics, robotics or electro-mechanical system design.
When you describe the must-have skills, give concrete projects that show how you integrated hardware, firmware and software, note the sensors, actuators, motors, PLCs and embedded controllers involved, and highlight any work with Industrial IoT or cloud platforms and the specific protocols you used.
For interviews, be prepared to walk through proof-of-concept work, how you tested and validated system performance, and examples of leading cross-functional teams through troubleshooting and process improvements in real-world settings.
Ask a thoughtful question about Delta’s current Industry 4.0 roadmap or the kinds of integrated systems you would own, and how success is measured across hardware, firmware and software integration in the role.
