The role is full-time and onsite, with the work anchored in a company that has built its portfolio from smart vehicles to fully automated systems and now operates with more than 21,000 colleagues worldwide. The position sits within arculus GmbH, a part of Jungheinrich, which develops mobile robotics and software for end-to-end automation.
This role is a great fit for engineers and operations professionals who enjoy translating digital models into practical, on-the-floor improvements. If you like collaborating across Sales, Product Management, and Software Engineering to shape feasible, efficient automation solutions, you’ll likely feel right at home.
The job is based in Munich, starts on November 16, 2026, and involves a 40-hour work week. It’s ideal for someone who wants to help bridge simulations and real shop-floor performance, turning data-driven insights into real-world value for customers.
From model to moving parts
In this position, you’ll play a central role in qualifying automation concepts by running data-driven simulations, planning layouts, and handling the integration of software with hardware. Your work connects digital simulations with real-world operations to validate material flows, forecast throughput, and spot potential bottlenecks before deployment.
You’ll partner with Sales, Product Management, and Software Engineering to establish standard methods for layout planning, transport processes, and simulation. Your contributions will support informed customer decisions and ensure automation ideas are technically feasible, efficient, and aligned with actual shopfloor needs.
Your core capabilities
- Three to five years of hands-on experience in industrial engineering, logistics planning, systems engineering, or systems integration, ideally in robotics or automation
- Practical experience using simulation tools, CAD-based layout planning, and simulators for autonomous mobile robots
- Familiarity with low-code environments such as Node-RED and a solid base in data science or machine learning
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols like MQTT and OPC-UA, and the ability to interface hardware via I/O signals
- Understanding of IT system architecture and design principles for intralogistics solutions
- Experience with fleet management systems and standards for autonomous robots, including VDA 5050
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn complex customer data into clear, visual, and actionable recommendations
- Clear communicator who can explain technical findings and facilitate discussions across stakeholders
- Organized and detail-oriented, with solid coordination and problem-solving abilities
- Proactive and accountable, taking ownership of tasks and driving continuous improvement
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity while helping teams stay focused and aligned
- Motivated to bridge simulation, software, and physical automation to deliver practical customer value

Advice for applicants
Lead with the specifics: in your resume, put 3–5 years of relevant experience at the top, especially highlighting work in Industrial Engineering, Logistics Planning, or Systems Integration within robotics or automation.
Show concrete proof of your must-have skills by summarizing a project where you used simulation tools, CAD-based layout planning, and AMR/AGV simulators to validate a concept or improve throughput, include any measurable outcomes if you can.
Be ready to describe how you’ve collaborated with Sales, Product Management, and Software Engineering to align simulation logic with system architecture, and to discuss how you translate data into decisions that customers can act on.
Ask a pointed question about how the team validates simulation results on real systems, and whether they use standards like VDA 5050 or protocols such as MQTT/OPC-UA to connect software models with hardware in live environments.
