Te Tūranga – About the role

We’re looking for an experienced and commercially savvy Sourcing & Procurement Manager to join our Own Brands team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for delivering best cost price outcomes across a portfolio of Own Brand products while supporting category strategies and driving long-term value for our co-operatives and customers.

You’ll lead supplier negotiations, tenders, and sourcing initiatives, working closely with Category Product Managers, Product Developers, and suppliers to optimise cost, quality, innovation, and supply outcomes. 

Success in this role requires strong commercial acumen, exceptional negotiation skills, and the ability to build influential stakeholder relationships. You’ll maintain a deep understanding of category cost drivers, commodity movements, supplier capability, and market trends while identifying opportunities to improve supplier performance, reduce costs, and create competitive advantage.

You’ll bring a strong background in procurement, sourcing, buying, or commercial roles within FMCG, food, retail, manufacturing, or a related industry. You are naturally curious, commercially minded, and confident working across complex supply chains and stakeholder groups.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Experience in a procurement, sourcing, buying, or commercial role, ideally within FMCG, food, or retail.
  • Strong understanding of cost models, manufacturing processes, and the drivers impacting cost of goods.
  • Proven experience leading supplier negotiations, sourcing initiatives, and supplier relationship management.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret commercial data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Advanced stakeholder management skills and a collaborative working style.
  • Resilience, initiative, and a passion for continuous improvement.
