Lunar Energy is seeking a Staff Frontend Designer to join a small, collaborative team and shape the TS+React front end for Lunar Gridshare, which optimizes solar, home storage, EVs and other energy flows. You will own high impact UI/UX work, contribute to a robust component library, and ensure consistency across teams. To apply, showcase a strong portfolio with UI/UX, data visualizations and motion design, plus expert frontend skills (TypeScript, React, HTML/CSS) and tooling (Figma, Adobe Suite, Sketch). Lunar Gridshare is transforming how we use and manage energy in the home and on the grid. We manage solar, home energy storage systems, electric vehicles, and other energy-intensive flows in the home, optimising value and efficiency for end users and energy companies to reduce costs and carbon footprint.

We are looking for a Staff Frontend Designer to join our small, focused and collaborative team of talented developers. Your work will focus on the Typescript+React-based web front-end to our platform, and its corresponding UI/UX designs.

Your responsibilities would include:

  • Taking initiative to ensure delivery of high stakes and/or time sensitive deliverables
  • Working and coordinating across multiple teams to ensure delivery, raise standards and ensure consistency
  • Ensuring the quality and reliability of the Lunar Energy component library both at the software and design level
  • Contributing to the continual improvement of our development best practices

You will be supported to work and grow your knowledge on multiple parts of the stack according to your interests and abilities. Our team has a strong tradition of using functional programming and type systems to build pragmatic and flexible systems to solve business problems.

Your key skills & experience:

  • Expert level in Typescript, React and front-end development (HTML/CSS)
  • Expert level in UI/UX design, and tools such as Figma, Adobe Suite, and Sketch
  • Strong visual portfolio showcasing UI/UX design, data visualisations, and motion design.
  • Experience in developing component libraries, including complex, high-interaction components such as charts, tables, date pickers, and other advanced UI patterns.
  • Experience working in a functional programming paradigm or openness to doing so
  • Working experience with Unix-like operating systems
  • You love working in a smaller team where you can see the huge impact of your work
  • You are autonomous and enjoy managing your workload and deadlines

Optional/useful:

  • Experience mentoring other developers and providing leadership on technical decisions
  • Experience with AWS, particularly serverless architecture
  • Ability to work independently, using your assessment of the technical landscape to work out where you will be most effective
  • Ability to engage with multiple technical stakeholders and teams, to find common needs and themes

Duration: Full-Time

Location: Fully remote, but you are welcome any time at our office in Spitalfields, London (UK), as often as you like.
