He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:

As a Structures Worker (Trade / Non-Trade) in our Network Services team, you’ll be part of a dedicated maintenance crew responsible for the care of rail structures across the network.

Working under the guidance of the Leading Structures Maintainer, you’ll help deliver maintenance, repairs, and renewals in a safe, timely, and cost-effective way. This is a hands-on, outdoor role where safety, teamwork, and following proven work methods are essential. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.

You’ll also be a safety leader, expected to actively demonstrate KiwiRail’s Zero Harm approach in everything you do.

We’re looking for people who are keen to learn, work safely, and contribute to a strong team culture. You’ll bring some or all of the following:

Essential

  • A strong commitment to health and safety, with a willingness to ‘walk the safety talk’.
  • Ability to work outdoors, at heights, and in all weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel and stay away overnight when required.
  • Availability for call-backs or call-outs as needed.
  • NCEA Level 1 Maths and English, or equivalent.
  • A current, clean New Zealand Class 1 driver licence.
  • Completion of required on-the-job training for a Trainee Structures Worker, or the ability to complete this.

Desirable

  • Experience working in rail, construction, carpentry, joinery, or building environments.
  • A New Zealand Class 2 driver licence.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, minor plant, or hi-rail vehicles.
