Fraunhofer ILT is looking for a student assistant to join the IFE Targetry HUB project, conducting experiments in polymer resin 3D printing with a focus on multiphoton polymerization, analyzing fabricated samples, and supporting ongoing research. You will help post process printed parts and contribute to applied research with potential to write a thesis. The ideal candidate is studying chemistry, polymer science, or plastics engineering, has meticulous lab habits, is highly motivated, and communicates proactively in German and English. Benefits include a collaborative team, excellent equipment, flexible hours up to 19 per week, and the chance for longer-term placement after 12 months. Apply online by 31 July 2026; contact Vera Rothmund for questions.
At the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, we may not be developing lightsabers to fight the dark side of the Force, but our innovations often sound like something out of science fiction. That’s because we’re shaping the technologies and processes for the future of digital manufacturing, packaging and scanning technology, and many other laser-based applications—such as 3D printing and laser fusion. Are you looking for an exciting role as a student assistant that will help shape the future? Then become part of our #OneTeam. As part of the IFE Targetry HUB project, the ILT is conducting research on the fabrication of targets for inertial fusion using micro 3D printing. For the specially developed materials, parameter windows are being systematically determined to achieve the best possible print results. After 3D printing, post-processing steps are required to separate the printed objects from the uncured polymer resin. The Fraunhofer ILT is testing various methods and substances for this purpose.
