Student of Landscape Architecture
HassellHassell, a global design practice with eight studios around the world, is inviting a student to join its Brisbane team for a paid internship. A year in the Brisbane studio
Under the guidance of senior designers, you’ll help develop projects from early concept through to documentation, contributing to designs across different stages.
You’ll assist with landscape drawings, technical documentation and presentation materials, and support the preparation of design reports and project materials.
You'll bring ideas to life through sketching, physical models and digital tools, while researching materials, planting options, site conditions and precedents to inform decisions.
Collaborating with landscape architects, urban designers and other consultants, you’ll join design reviews and offer ideas and feedback. You’ll also learn to organise and manage your work to meet agreed project timeframes, gaining hands-on experience through mentoring and active participation in projects.
Overall, the internship offers practical exposure to this multidisciplinary design studio, helping you grow your professional skills while you complete your degree.

Advice for applicants
Lead your resume with your current degree status and year, and highlight projects where you explored public spaces or sustainable design, especially any work that involved collaboration or multidisciplinary input.
When you show your must-have skills, point to a portfolio entry that demonstrates clear visuals and strong presentation, plus an example where you used Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office to advance a project, and include a note about a time you welcomed feedback and took ownership of a task.
In interviews, be ready to discuss how you manage time to meet project deadlines and how you learn from mentors. Bring a concrete example of a project where you contributed to drawings, technical documentation or a design concept.
Ask about how interns participate in design reviews and how mentoring is structured, and whether there are opportunities to contribute across different stages of a project during your time with Hassell.
How to apply
To be considered, submit your CV and portfolio, showcasing examples of your university design work, technical skills and creative thinking. Hassell does not accept speculative candidates via agencies or third parties.
