The company behind DHL Supply Chain is recruiting in Auckland for a Supervisor role at the Highbrook site. As a global leader in logistics and supply chain solutions, DHL operates in more than 220 countries and territories, combining scale with local know-how to connect people and improve lives every day. They prioritise people, sustainability, respect and personal accountability, and they’re looking for a hands-on leader who wants to contribute to a busy, client-focused operation.

In this position you’ll take charge of day-to-day activities on the site, guiding a team of six and ensuring order processing is accurate, inventory arrives on time, and internal systems are followed. It’s a role that suits someone who enjoys keeping operations smooth on a fast-moving floor and who wants to partner with clients to hit performance targets.

If you want a leadership role where you can shape a positive team culture, act as the main escalation point for clients and management, and drive improvements across people and processes on a daily basis, this could be the right move for you.

Day-to-day rhythm on the Highbrook floor

You’ll oversee the daily operations to make sure orders flow correctly, inventory lands in the system when it should, and everything stays aligned with internal procedures. You’ll be the first point of contact for clients and management when issues arise, helping to move key metrics and service levels forward.

Beyond that, you’ll manage how the team performs to keep high standards alive, reconcile inventory and handle investigations efficiently, and plan labour resources based on client activity. You’ll also focus on staff development, building a learning culture, and contributing to a positive, collaborative site atmosphere.

What you’ll bring to the team

Here's what helps you fit the role, must-haves and nice-to-haves reworded from the job’s requirements.

  • Team player with a positive, can-do approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Attention to detail and fluency in English
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Experience using warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office at an intermediate level or higher
  • Solid work ethic and a commitment to developing the team
  • A customer-focused mindset with the ability to build relationships with clients
  • Hoist and reach license is preferred but not essential
  • Full NZ Driver’s Licence is preferred

Benefits, schedule and practical details

The role is full-time and onsite at the Auckland Highbrook site, with DHL emphasising career paths and ongoing development. You’ll join a network that offers global development opportunities and world-class training programs, including the Certified International Specialist track.

People who join DHL can expect to be part of a Certified Great Place to Work with a diverse, engaged team. The company also runs a Birthday Leave policy, and the PERKS employee benefits programme provides discounts on fuel, groceries and retail. You’ll work with cutting-edge supply chain technology to support your success, and the organisation commits to social and environmental initiatives with an Employee Assistance Programme for personal support.

There are opportunities to participate in initiatives like the Women’s Network and broader environmental efforts, all within a supportive environment where excellence is recognised and rewarded.

Advice for applicants

Tip 1: Put your supervisor experience up front. On your resume, lead with evidence of managing a site or a team (ideally around six people), keeping orders accurate and inventory moving smoothly on a busy floor.

Tip 2: Prove the must-haves with specifics. Cite hands-on use of warehouse management systems and Office at an intermediate level, plus examples of how you’ve maintained accuracy, improved processes or supported client relationships.

Tip 3: Prepare stories that align with the role’s realities. Have anecdotes ready about planning labour based on client activity, resolving inventory investigations, and coaching teammates to grow their skills within a learning culture.

Tip 4: Ask a targeted question to show you’re thinking about the role’s impact. For instance, inquire how client KPIs and SLAs are tracked and how the organisation supports ongoing growth through programs like the Certified International Specialist or involvement in networks and wellbeing resources.
