The role

In this role, you’ll take ownership of the Distribution Equipment portfolio and play a key part in shaping the sourcing strategies that keep Auckland’s electricity network resilient, efficient, and future‑ready. You’ll engage deeply with suppliers, engineers and industry peers across New Zealand and Australia to gather insights, identify risks and opportunities, and translate what you learn into clear, actionable strategies. You’ll also support our evolution of a more proactive, strategic and data‑driven operating model. Your insights and engagement will help the team forecast more accurately, optimise inventory, manage supplier risk and strengthen Vector’s ability to respond to market change.

Who are we looking for?

  • Someone with a good understanding of the electricity distribution industry, with experience of building long term relationships with industry peers and stakeholders in New Zealand, Australia and beyond
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a proven ability to shape and execute long‑term portfolio strategies and clearly articulate the “why” behind decisions
  • A natural connector, skilled at translating qualitative insights into meaningful data and recommendations
  • An excellent communicator who can confidently advocate for Supply Chain's interests, building trust with diverse industry and internal stakeholder groups
  • A strategic thinker comfortable working within a complex environment, balancing commercial, operational and regulatory considerations while staying focused on long‑term value and resilience.
