Transport for NSW invites applications for a Surveillance Officer on a temporary full-time basis up to 17 months, based on site at the Dubbo District Office. You will manage routine surveillance, assist with complex inspections, keep site records, monitor contractor performance, and verify that construction aligns with contract requirements and quality systems. The role requires reading bridge drawings, conducting safety and environmental risk assessments, reviewing SWMS, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, traffic and quality standards. It is an on-site role with occasional after hours and regional travel. In this role, you'll:

 

Join our Road Maintenance & Resilience division, supporting the delivery of bridge construction and maintenance projects. Your role will involve managing routine surveillance activities and assisting with more complex inspections to ensure works are delivered on time, within scope, and to required quality standards.

 

You’ll maintain detailed site records, monitor contractor performance, and ensure all construction activities align with contract requirements and established quality systems. You’ll also carry out safety and environmental risk assessments, review Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, traffic, and quality standards. You will be required to read and interpret bridge drawings to ensure that the works are built as per the design plans.

 

This is a temporary full-time role until 17/03/2027 and will be based on site at our Dubbo District Office.

About you

 

You’ll need a strong understanding of surveillance procedures, quality processes, and relevant bridge and material technical specifications. Experience with contract documentation is essential, and prior experience as a Surveillance Officer on bridge projects is required. Qualifications in environmental, safety, and/or quality management will be highly regarded, as will direct experience managing contractors, particularly those involved in new bridge construction.

 

You must hold a current, unrestricted NSW Motor Vehicle driver’s licence.

 

The role may occasionally require work outside of normal hours, as well as travel throughout the region which would require you to work at locations away from home for extended periods of time.
