Jim Dooley Early Learning Center is seeking caring, dependable, and energetic Per Diem Teachers to support our after-school program. This is the perfect opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with children and are looking for a flexible afternoon schedule.
Schedule:
- Per Diem
- Monday–Friday
- 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Work 3–5 afternoons per week
This position is ideal for:
- Retired teachers or childcare professionals
- College students studying education or related fields
- Teaching assistants looking for additional hours

What You'll Do
Under the guidance of the Director of Child Care, Lead Teacher, or Infant Program Coordinator, you will:
- Provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children during after-school hours.
- Assist with supervising children during classroom activities, indoor and outdoor play, and transitions.
- Support age-appropriate learning experiences and enrichment activities.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff members.
- Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and safety.
- Follow New York State childcare regulations, accreditation standards, and Center policies.
- Work collaboratively with the teaching team to provide quality care and education.
Qualifications
Education
Minimum:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Preferred:
- CDA Credential
- Vocational training in childcare
- College coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field
Experience
Minimum:
- One year of experience working with children in a childcare, school, camp, or similar setting.
