The Technical Project Manager (TPM) is responsible for planning, leading, and delivering technical projects that align with the Digital & Data (D&D) Strategy and the organisation’s Integrated Business Plan (IBP). The role ensures that projects are executed to scope, on time, within budget, and deliver value to Hato Hone St John.
This role is ideal for someone who has progressed from a Project Coordinator role and looking to develop their project management career, bringing hands-on experience in coordinating technology initiatives and a strong understanding of digital delivery environments. As such this role is not suitable for candidates seeking senior or programme-level responsibility.
Operating at both a tactical and strategic level, the TPM will manage all aspects of the project lifecycle, from initiation through delivery and transition to operations. The role requires strong technical knowledge, disciplined project management capability, and the ability to build effective relationships with senior leaders, business stakeholders, and vendors to drive positive outcomes across systems, services, and processes.
Project Delivery
Lead the end-to-end delivery of technical projects, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and D&D strategy.
Define scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resourcing for assigned projects.
Apply structured project management methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to budget.
Manage risks, issues, dependencies, and changes throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure smooth handover to operational teams with fit-for-purpose service enablement and support structures.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationships
Build and maintain credible relationships with senior managers, technical teams, and other stakeholders.
Act as a trusted advisor by translating business needs into technical solutions and ensuring technical projects meet business requirements.
Provide clear communication of project status, challenges, and outcomes to senior leaders and project sponsors.
Strategic Alignment & Business Insight
Ensure technical project outcomes are aligned to the IBP and D&D strategy.
Contribute technical and project delivery insights into strategic planning for Digital change.
Support business units in adopting new technologies and embedding them into operational practice.
