Trainee Project Management (UAE Nationals)
WoodWood is inviting UAE Nationals to join a trainee project management program that kicks off with on-site work in Abu Dhabi. This full-time opportunity is tailored for graduates who want to start a career in project management within a multidisciplinary engineering environment. The company is looking for fresh talent, including those with limited work experience, who hold a valid Family Book, and who are eager to learn and develop professional skills.
Wood is a global leader in consulting, engineering and operations for the energy and materials sectors, with about 33,000 people in around 50 countries. The role sits within the Energy & Materials pillar of Sidara, a global partnership that brings together engineering, design and project management experts. For those drawn to a broad, technically grounded pathway, this program offers a clear entry into how large engineering projects are planned and delivered. Wood is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity.
As a trainee, you’ll work alongside Project Managers and Project Engineers to help deliver engineering and project activities. Expect to gain exposure to planning, scheduling, risk management and project controls within an engineering setting, and to develop an understanding of engineering project lifecycles, stakeholder coordination, and execution practices. You’ll learn how fundamental project management concepts like planning, reporting, costs and teamwork come together in real projects, while applying your academic knowledge to practical challenges in a multidisciplinary environment. Training and development programs will be part of your growth path.
Getting hands-on with project delivery
In this role you’ll support the delivery lifecycle by assisting project managers and engineers in coordinating engineering and project tasks. You’ll start to see how projects move from concept through to execution, while you learn to handle documentation, align with engineering workflows and keep stakeholders informed. The experience is designed to build your capability to plan, monitor progress and respond to risks, all while collaborating with a diverse team that brings together different disciplines.
Day by day, you’ll observe and contribute to how the project team communicates, tracks milestones, and manages shifts in scope or timing. You’ll gradually take on more responsibility as you develop confidence with the processes that underpin steady, safe, and predictable project delivery. The environment is multidisciplinary, so you’ll pick up practical lessons from engineers, planners and coordinators as you grow into a more hands-on contributor.
What you’ll need to get started
- You must be an UAE national with a valid Family Book.
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in one of these areas or a related field: Project Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, or another closely related discipline.
- Recent graduates or candidates with limited work experience are encouraged to apply.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills that help you collaborate across teams.
- Solid organisational and time-management abilities to stay on top of tasks in a busy project environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications to prepare, analyse and share information.
- A genuine eagerness to learn and grow within a professional project environment.

Advice for applicants
Lead with your status and education in your resume. Start your summary by stating you’re an UAE national with a valid Family Book and mention your degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field, plus your interest in starting a trainee program with Wood.
Show concrete proof of the must-have skills. Include examples from coursework or internships where you demonstrated clear communication, teamwork, planning or scheduling activities, and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools. If you led a group project or contributed to a multidisciplinary assignment, highlight how you coordinated with others to meet deadlines.
Be ready to talk about applying academic knowledge to real-world project challenges. Have a short story ready about how you understood a project lifecycle, how you managed documentation, or how you supported stakeholder coordination in a team setting.
Ask a targeted question about the development path. For example, inquire how the trainee program structures training and development opportunities and which projects or engineering workflows you would be exposed to in the early months.
