PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Join CPKC's Network Service Centre team and play a key role in supporting the movement of freight across North America. Working in a fast-paced 24/7 operations environment, you will support transportation and logistics operations through rail and trucking support, cross-border processes, inventory reporting, shipment information management, and customer service activities that help keep freight moving across North America.

No railway experience is required, as comprehensive training is provided. This unionized position is represented by USW Local 1976 and governed by the applicable collective agreement.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Support transportation and logistics operations by processing customer requests, shipment information, inventory transactions, freight movements, intermodal activities, appointments, pickups, deliveries, and transportation documentation.
  • Process and maintain operational data across multiple systems with a high degree of accuracy, urgency, and attention to detail.
  • Assist with cross-border and customs-related activities to ensure the efficient movement of freight.
  • Meet established service, productivity, quality, and customer service standards while managing high transaction volumes.
  • Respond to inquiries and coordinate solutions with customers, drivers, railroad partners, and internal stakeholders through various communication channels.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve transportation, logistics, and inventory-related issues using established procedures and available resources.
  • Monitor operational workflows, identify process improvement opportunities, and contribute to enhanced service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, 24/7 operating environment while working independently across multiple systems and applications.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, operating procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Commerce, Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, trucking dispatch, customs, inventory management, customer service, data entry, or contact center environments is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of transportation, logistics, customs, inventory management, and supply chain operations, along with experience using enterprise systems such as SAP, CRM, transportation, inventory, billing, or customer service applications, is preferred.
  • Bilingual or multilingual capabilities (English, French, and/or Spanish) and familiarity with Canadian and U.S. geography, transportation networks, and major transportation corridors are considered assets.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in transaction processing, data management, and record keeping, supported by strong computer, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, and OneNote, with the ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple business systems and applications.
  • Comfortable working independently in a highly computerized environment, utilizing multiple transportation, logistics, and business systems simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and commitment to attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Comfortable spending extended periods at a computer workstation while maintaining accuracy, productivity, and service excellence.
