Full-time
On-site
Auckland, NZ

Tend is growing its primary care team on Auckland’s North Shore and is looking for an Urgent Care Doctor to join their Rosedale site on a full-time basis. The position is onsite and open to clinicians with urgent care experience, including GP walk-in or emergency department backgrounds, who want to deliver strong community care with a supportive group behind them. Tend emphasizes taking care of clinicians as much as patients, so this role suits someone who values collaboration and a balanced workload.

To help you focus on care in the consult room, Tend offers a locally developed note-taking tool called Scribe and an inbox support team to handle documentation. This setup is designed to lighten admin load so you can stay present with patients and spend less time on paperwork after hours. If you enjoy variety, teamwork, and making a real difference in the local community, you’ll likely feel at home here.

In this role you’ll join a warm, multidisciplinary team that values your expertise and aims to provide predictable scheduling for better work-life balance. It’s a good match for someone who wants to contribute to excellent urgent care while keeping a sustainable pace and strong professional support.

A day in the North Shore urgent care

Your days will center on urgent care encounters in a walk-in/urgent context, with opportunities to draw on your UC or ED experience while working alongside a dedicated team of clinicians from different disciplines. In this setting you’ll see a mix of urgent presentations, manage patient flow, and coordinate care with colleagues and support staff. The goal is to deliver timely, high-quality care while relying on Scribe for notes and on inbox support to keep documentation manageable. You’ll have space to collaborate on clinical decisions, share knowledge, and continue building your skills with a team that values ongoing learning and patient-focused outcomes.

What you’ll need to bring

  • Experience as a UC Fellow or as a GP working in a walk-in clinic, or a background in urgent care or emergency department settings
  • Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment

Nice-to-haves that help you hit the ground running

  • Familiarity with the Scribe note-taking tool and comfort with inbox-based support to handle administrative tasks

Pay, scheduling and practical details

The role is offered up to 0.80 FTE, which means about 32 hours per week, with casual coverage options available. The position is onsite in Auckland, NZ, at the North Shore site. Tend highlights include a warm, collegial environment where your clinical expertise is valued and scheduling that supports work-life balance. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team and have access to Scribe for notes, along with an inbox support structure to reduce after-hours paperwork. Opportunities to grow alongside a committed group of clinicians are a key part of what Tend offers in this role.

Tips for your Tend urgent care application

Put your urgent care credentials front and center. Lead with any UC Fellow experience, GP walk-in roles, or UC/ED exposure so it’s clear you’ve handled the kinds of cases Tend sees on the North Shore.

Back up your must-have experience with concrete examples. Share a brief case or scenario where you managed a busy urgent care day, used a structured approach to patient flow, and relied on team support to optimize outcomes. If you’ve used Scribe or similar note-taking tools, include that experience and any positive impact on consultation time or documentation quality.

Be prepared to discuss how you collaborate in a multidisciplinary setting. Have a few anecdotes ready about coordinating with nurses, allied health, or admin staff to streamline patient care, and how you use feedback to improve practice.

Ask a targeted question about the workflow. For example, inquire how the Scribe tool integrates with the clinic’s daily routines and how the inbox support team collaborates during peak times, plus what the predictable scheduling looks like over a typical week.
