The BASF Performance Materials business responds quickly to customer needs, without cutting corners to sacrifice safety or quality.  The business services a wide range of customers in many different markets from automotive, construction, refrigeration, appliances, etc.  The operators within the Clemson Site must adapt to change safely, quickly, and efficiently while maintaining the highest quality requirements.   The Utility Technician is responsible for the operation of critical utilities equipment that supports the manufacturing of blended resin systems for foam applications to meet our customer needs.  

 

**This role follows a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, working four days on-shift then 4 days off-shift rotating every two week from days to nights 

During your 12-hour shift as a Utility Technician, you will

  • Operate, monitor, and collect data from steam generation equipment, compressed air systems, refrigeration systems, water filtration plants, and wastewater treatment plants. Complete daily and shift inspections.
  • Collect and test samples from boilers, cooling towers, water filtration systems, and wastewater systems. Apply water treatment chemicals as required.
  • Collect samples and perform inspections to support site environmental compliance programs, including stormwater monitoring.
  • Start, stop, switch, and lock out equipment as needed for production and maintenance activities.
  • Clean utility equipment, clarifiers, and filters. Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout all utility areas.
  • Actively support the site’s safety culture by following safety procedures, mastering required standard operating procedures (SOPs), and participating in safety programs.
  • Understand and follow applicable EPA and OSHA requirements.
  • Provide vacation coverage, work overtime as needed, and support operational continuity.
  • Support production and maintenance activities such as conducting preventive maintenance on utilities equipment, monitoring temperature, and pressure on preloaded trailers, managing rainwater systems through sampling and tank-level monitoring, conducting routine area inspections, other activities as requested
  • Obtain and maintain forklift certification.
  • Hold, or work toward obtaining, a South Carolina State wastewater certification

If you have...

  • High School Diploma (2-year technical degree preferred)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Good communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to obtain a South Carolina State wastewater certification (Class B license or higher).
