ManaKidz, a nurse-led school-based programme supported by Tāmaki Health, is offering a 12-month fixed-term Whānau Support Worker role, minimum 37 hours per week. You’ll carry out health assessments and promotion in schools, working with Registered Nurses on throat and skin checks while building rapport with families and communities who primarily speak Samoan and Tongan. Requirements include a current NZ driver’s license and own car, strong English, the ability to manage a busy caseload, and a commitment to confidentiality and health equity under Tikanga Māori, Kawa Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. About the Role
The Whānau Support Worker is responsible for undertaking health assessment, health education and health promotion activities in schools in South Auckland. This role provides support and expected to work closely with, and under, the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurses in the day-to-day running of projects in schools and communities. At each of these sites, school- based health nurses and community support workers will see pupils and offer throat and skin checks.
This is a fixed-term position for 12 months to cover extended leave, offering a minimum of 37 hours per week.

The ideal candidate will engage closely with our patient demographic, which primarily communicates in Samoan and Tongan. Proficiency in these languages would greatly enhance effective communication and the establishment of rapport while performing their duties.
