Green by Nature is hiring a permanent Workshop Mechanic for Dandenong South depot to maintain and repair small plant equipment, tractors and trailers, with onsite servicing, welding, and full uniform and PPE provided. The ideal candidate is a trade certified mechanic with experience in landscape equipment and larger machinery, solid diesel engine knowledge, and strong diagnostic and parts-inventory skills, plus a current driver’s licence with the ability to tow a trailer. Safety is a priority in a tidy workshop. About the Role

This role is pivotal in ensuring that our operations run smoothly every day by maintaining and repairing the equipment that is critical to our work. The primary focus will be on keeping our equipment in optimal condition, performing regular maintenance and executing timely repairs.

About You

You are a trade certified mechanic with recent experience maintaining and repairing small plant equipment as well as larger machinery and vehicles. Your recent experience providing landscape equipment repairs and preventative maintenance will be highly regarded.

You have proven ability to troubleshoot and problem solve mechanical issues, and your diesel engine experience will be looked upon favourably.

Your attention to details lends itself to accurately manage parts and service inventory and you are able to prioritise work requests to ensure minimal down time of key pieces or plant and equipment. You hold a current driver's licence and have proven ability to safely tow and manoeuvre a trailer.

You put safety first in all that you do and pride yourself on maintaining an organised, clean and safe workshop and have a clear focus on using all tools and equipment safely and effectively

Most importantly you want to make a positive contribution to your team and with your mature mindset you are prepared to make suggestions on changes to processes and procedures if you feel improvements could be made.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, service and repair small plant equipment such as ride on mowers, push mowers, brush cutters, chain saws, blowers, hedgers, atom edgers, chemical spray packs, power tools and more.
• Maintain and service tractors and trailers.
• Diagnose and repair problems with equipment, including proper testing procedures, teardown & rebuild with genuine parts replacement.
• Complete preventive maintenance of equipment, vehicles and trailers.
• Diagnose and repair problems in fuel, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems of equipment.
• Perform some onsite/mobile servicing as required
• Undertake welding for repairs
• Purchase equipment related parts and supplies from approved suppliers
