Lids Sports Group is looking for an Assistant Store Manager PT to run its Franklin, Tennessee shop on a part-time, onsite basis. This is a strong fit for someone who loves sports and fashion, enjoys helping customers, and wants to lead a team when the Store Manager isn’t on the floor. Lids is the largest licensed sports retailer in North America, with more than 1,300 stores nationwide, and is known for its officially licensed headwear and apparel from collegiate and professional teams, plus collaborations with brands like Marvel, Peanuts, and The Walt Disney Company. The company emphasizes in-store embroidery and customization, turning everyday gear into one-of-a-kind pieces. The role reports to the Store Manager and sits squarely in a hands-on retail environment that mixes sport, style, and customer service.

With a footprint built around immersive, fan-driven retail experiences, Lids operates stores that range from NBA and NHL concept shops to clubhouse environments for the Yankees and Dodgers. The Franklin store is you on the floor, guiding staff, solving problems, and ensuring every guest leaves with a memorable purchase. If you’re comfortable taking the lead in the manager’s absence, coaching others, and keeping a store running smoothly, you’ll likely feel at home here.

You’ll find yourself guiding the team through scheduling, training, and the consistent application of company standards. On busy days you’ll balance coaching and customer service, making sure patrons get product knowledge and help enrolling in Lids membership or promotions when they’re live. You’ll stay aligned with HQ directives for visual presentation and merchandising, while keeping the store tidy, stocked, and ready for audits.

Steering the store when the doors open

When the Store Manager isn’t around, you become the point person for daily operations, including how the team is scheduled, how customer issues are resolved, and how performance is tracked against objectives. You’ll help staff grow through the company’s training programs, set goals for sales and tasks, and follow up to maintain momentum. You’ll also guide the team through disciplinary steps when needed, foster an inclusive environment, and reinforce brand standards such as dress code and safe handling of inventory, funds, and property.

On the customer side, you’ll lead the selling strategy to reach KPIs and sales targets while delivering outstanding service. You’ll resolve guest concerns on the spot, educate visitors on Lids’ membership programs, and ensure the store looks right with proper merchandising and a clean layout. Your presence helps keep a professional appearance that aligns with the company’s standards.

Operational duties sit alongside customer interactions. You’ll implement directives from Lids HQ, keep the Policies & Procedures Manual in mind to maintain safety, and oversee the store’s tech and equipment, checking MPOS and Lids Custom daily for updates or repairs. You’ll manage the cash process, including opening and closing the till, protecting against counterfeit activity, and performing bank drops. You’ll also help prepare for inventory audits and step in as needed to verify accuracy, as well as handle opening and closing procedures as required.

In the product and inventory space, you’ll help protect company assets and assist with work schedules that cover shifts without overspending. You’ll manage receiving, transfers, price updates, and counts, while keeping the backroom organized for efficiency. You’ll oversee layout and VM or product presentation during activations and weekly changes, ensuring the store presents a cohesive, appealing look every day.

Tips for making your case

Lead your application with any leadership you’ve shown in retail settings, especially where you scheduled shifts and trained teams. Use a resume section to foreground your supervisory duties and outcomes, making sure to tie them to schedule efficiency, staff development, and customer satisfaction on the floor.

When you describe your must-have skills, provide concrete examples of sales results and how you kept shrink under control. If you’ve ever reduced loss while meeting or exceeding targets, spell out the numbers or outcomes you achieved and the steps you took to sustain them.

Prepare for interviews by thinking through how you handled a difficult customer on the shop floor, the steps you took to restore a positive experience, and how you communicated the resolution to your team to prevent a recurrence. Be ready to discuss how you educated customers about membership programs and how you ensured the store stayed aligned with visual guidelines during a live promotion.

Have a smart question ready about development and training. For example, ask how Lids supports leadership growth through its training programs or how often HQ updates merchandising guidelines and promotions, so you can illustrate you’re ready to implement those changes on your feet.
