In this role, you'll:

 


Help drive culturally informed change across Transport for NSW. You will support research, prepare clear documents, and assist with consultations and governance activities to turn evidence and valued insights into practical actions. You will also keep records, schedules and reporting up to date to ensure work stays on track and outcomes are culturally safe, compliant and well communicated.


The Aboriginal Strategy Officer will also be responsible for:


• Assisting with qualitative and quantitative research and basic analysis to inform papers, briefs and submissions.

• Drafting and formatting clear, plain English summaries, templates and project documents aligned to approved frameworks.

• Coordinating inputs for meetings, working groups and committees, including preparing agendas, papers, minutes and action follow ups.

• Supporting consultations with internal teams, operators and Aboriginal stakeholders, capturing and organising feedback for policy and design leads.

• Tracking milestones, risks and issues across workstreams, escalating concerns and proposing next steps to keep deliverables on schedule.

• Preparing presentations and updates that translate complex information into simple messages for decision makers.

• Modelling culturally safe, inclusive ways of working and collaborating across divisions to help turn insights into practical recommendations.



This is an ongoing full-time position located at Wollongong.


This role can be filled through remote working and can be based anywhere in New South Wales. The roles require in person attendance on particular days of the week at your local TfNSW office.
This is an Aboriginal-identified role as it involves the development and delivery of services and programs which impact or require liaison with Aboriginal people and/or communities. About you

 


You are an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.

You have tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.

You are someone with a solid understanding of Aboriginal cultures in NSW, community led ways of working, and key reform frameworks like Closing the Gap.

You are able to research, analyse and write clear, concise briefs and notes using both qualitative and quantitative evidence.

You are someone who brings strong motivation, clear and engaging storytelling, and confident presentation skills.

You’re experienced in supporting stakeholder engagement and consultations, including working with Aboriginal communities or partners.

You are a strong writer with great organisational and digital skills (such as Office/365 and document management), and you communicate in plain, accurate English with strong attention to detail.
