Active Suspension System Integration Expert
Li AutoLi Auto is seeking an Active Suspension System Integration Expert to join its engineering team in Munich, DE. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity for someone who loves tackling high-precision hardware, software and systems work in the automotive space. The right candidate will enjoy collaborating with suppliers to refine active suspension concepts and deliver durable performance.
The role centers on shaping the technical development plan for a fully active suspension, including system integration, matching and function definition, and creating design guides, DFMEA and system standards. It also spans architecture and hardware sizing, with duties like damper sizing and the motor pump unit specifications, alongside design reviews and careful oil-tube sizing and valve selection to meet vehicle specs for function and NVH. In addition, the job involves defining product definitions for the suspension and its sub-components, proposing design requirements for parts such as active shock absorbers, motor pump units and oil tubes, and working with suppliers to optimize schemes. Development of DV & PV test projects, part verification and issue tracking across bench tests and vehicle-level performance, NVH and durability will be part of the everyday tasks, plus a focus on dynamic perception and exploring new technologies to push the design forward.
Tuning the brain of a fully active suspension
In this role you’ll shape the technical development plan for the fully active suspension, including system integration, system matching and function definition, and you’ll create design guidelines, DFMEA and system standards to guide the work. You’ll own the full architecture and hardware sizing, including active damper sizing and the specifications for the motor pump unit, and you’ll participate in design reviews. Sizing the oil tube and selecting valves will be aligned with the vehicle’s technical specs for function and NVH goals. You’ll also define product definitions for the system and sub-components, proposing design requirements and standards for parts such as fully active shock absorbers, motor pump units and oil tubes, and collaborating with suppliers to optimize designs. Additionally, you’ll develop DV and PV test plans, verify components, track issues and solve bench-test and vehicle-level problems across performance, NVH and durability, while keeping an eye on new technologies to bring innovative ideas into the suspension design.
What would make you a strong fit
- A bachelor’s, master’s or higher degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering or a closely related field
- More than ten years of hands-on experience with fully active suspension systems
- A solid grasp of fully active suspension concepts and components, with the ability to independently design, develop and test such systems to meet performance and durability standards
- Knowledge of the main fully active suspension systems on the market, with the ability to balance cost and performance and strong analytical skills to troubleshoot during debugging and post-sales support
- Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word and CATIA, plus a knack for issue detection, root-cause analysis and evaluating system performance, and fluency in English
- Excellent collaboration and problem-solving abilities, plus a self-motivated, fast-learning, proactive and creative mindset, solid time management, and a results-driven approach
On-site work in Munich: what to expect
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Munich, DE. The role requires fluent English for cross-functional communication. The posting lists no additional travel, visa or schedule details beyond these facts, so you’ll need to come prepared to work closely with teams and suppliers to deliver a robust fully active suspension system.
Tips for applicants
Lead your resume with your degree and your track record in fully active suspension work, especially where you managed system integration, design, and end-to-end testing.
Demonstrate the must-have skills by citing projects where you independently designed, developed and tested fully active suspension systems and partnered with suppliers to refine sub-systems such as dampers, motor pump units and oil lines.
Be ready to walk interviewers through a DV and PV testing plan you led, how you tackled bench-test issues, and how you addressed performance, NVH and durability in real hardware and vehicle scenarios.
Ask a smart question about how the team balances cost and performance in the fully active suspension stack and where your experience could drive meaningful improvements in both areas.
