He angitūtanga: The opportunity


 Auckland Council’s Governance & Engagement department has an opportunity for a full time Advisor to join the Councillor Support team. You will be based in the City Centre, with the opportunity to work flexibly.

 

Your primary responsibility will be to provide support, advice, and connections to councillors, enabling them to operate efficiently, provide leadership, and engage with the people of Tāmaki Makaurau.  Within your role you’ll maintain impartiality, while having a sharp understanding of working within a political environment.


 
You can be expected to work directly with councillors and senior staff on:

 

  • Timely governance processes and administrative support
  • Issues and correspondence management
  • Provision of robust advice, supporting policy matters for the Auckland region
  • Communications and media support

 

You will be immersed in a team of experts with a passion for supporting quality decision making.  This role will also enable you to connect across Council with other teams to further develop your experience and expertise.

This role is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, has high level organisation skills and who is passionate about Auckland.  You may have experience in similar roles in large or political organisations.
