Analog Design Engineering Intern
Analog DevicesMaking the daily work add up in the Toronto lab
In this role, you’ll work closely with experienced engineers to help draft and refine analog circuits such as amplifiers and filters, and you’ll use SPICE and similar tools to model how circuits will perform. You’ll also assist with layout tasks to keep performance aligned with manufacturability goals, and you’ll participate in hands-on lab testing to verify designs using instruments like oscilloscopes and function generators. Expect to troubleshoot issues and optimize circuits in collaboration with senior staff, turning classroom theories into practical solutions. You’ll gain exposure to the full cycle of IC development, from initial design ideas through verification and testing, and you’ll contribute to real projects within ADI’s catalog. The environment is cooperative and outcomes-focused, with plenty of learning through doing and structured opportunities to share your findings with teammates and mentors.Must-have fundamentals for your toolbox
- Solid grasp of analog circuit concepts, especially amplifiers and filters, and a willingness to assist more senior engineers.
- Introductory exposure to combining analog and digital parts on a single chip.
- Experience using simulation software such as SPICE to model circuit behavior.
- Early experience with IC layout, helping optimize performance and manufacturability.
- Growing knowledge of CMOS technology to support basic circuit designs.
- Foundational familiarity with ADC design, assisting in testing and development.
Nice-to-haves for a stronger candidacy
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with coursework or projects that touch analog circuit design and simulation. You should bring strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and communicate well, plus enjoy collaborating with others to reach common goals.Pay, benefits and practical details you should know

Lead with a project or coursework that shows you’ve designed or simulated an analog circuit, ideally including an amplifier or filter, and mention any SPICE modeling you did and the results you verified in a lab setting.
Describe a specific project where you supported a senior engineer, detailing how you contributed to layout or testing and what you learned about making a design more manufacturable.
Be ready to discuss a circuit-design problem you tackled, the steps you used to approach it, and how you validated your solution with measurements or simulations, including any CMOS or ADC basics you demonstrated.
When you ask questions, focus on practical opportunities: ask how interns participate in layout work or prototypes, and how the team assesses progress toward full-time opportunities after the internship. You could also ask about how the program balances hands-on projects with learning sessions and how travel requirements fit into the team’s planning.
