Mirum Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company focused on transforming treatments for rare diseases, is expanding its Commercial Operations team. The group values care, being real, getting things done and having fun, and they're looking for teammates who share that spirit. The role sits in Zug and involves close collaboration with Brand Leads, country leadership, and cross-functional partners to steer commercial decisions with solid data and practical execution.

The Associate Director, Commercial Operations, will drive decision support and execution through strong forecasting, commercial insights, market research, competitive intelligence and sales operations. This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on operations and requires a partner who can work across Finance, Marketing, Market Access, Medical and external collaborators in a fast-moving biotech setting. The position is onsite in Zug, with occasional remote work allowed in line with Mirum policy and as agreed with the reporting manager.

Candidates who enjoy influencing business outcomes through data, shaping processes and building strong internal partnerships will likely feel at home in this role. It’s a good fit for someone who wants to be deeply embedded in Mirum’s culture while helping the business move quickly and confidently.

A day in the life in commercial operations

Your days will weave forecasting, market research and field support into a coherent commercial plan. You’ll lead the creation, upkeep and improvement of forecast models that span brands and countries, ensuring they are transparent, well documented and aligned with Finance and Commercial Leadership. You’ll regularly flag risks and opportunities and offer concrete recommendations to guide decisions.

You’ll partner with Brand Leads, Country General Managers and leadership across Finance and Commercial teams to shape mid- and long-range outlooks. In parallel, you’ll oversee market research and competitive intelligence efforts, from briefing to delivery, including vendor management and ensuring compliance with internal requirements. You’ll keep a pulse on the competitive landscape through public sources and translate findings into actionable implications for strategy, launch planning and forecasting.

Sales operations will be a core focus as well: you’ll manage sales incentive plans, own the commercial administration of Veeva CRM for Mirum International, support territory design and field-force deployment, and drive segmentation and targeting processes. You’ll develop and monitor Sales Force Effectiveness metrics, provide insights on territory performance and CRM adoption, and help onboard the field team with training and launch readiness efforts.

What you’ll need to bring to the role

Here’s the baseline Mirum is looking for, followed by a note on what would be nice to have.

  • A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Five years or more of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or life sciences Commercial Operations, Sales Operations, Commercial Excellence or a closely related function.
  • Direct experience building forecast models and collaborating with senior commercial leaders, plus hands-on work administering Veeva CRM, managing Sales Incentive Plans, aligning territories, and supporting segmentation and targeting, along with field-performance reporting.
  • Proven ability to manage market research projects and generate competitive insights that inform brand strategy and planning.

Nice-to-haves include:

  • Advanced Excel skills and a track record of developing forecasting models.
  • Hands-on experience with Veeva CRM/Salesforce administration.
  • Experience creating dashboards or visualizations, ideally with Power BI.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or similar cloud-based data platforms.
  • Knowledge of SQL and familiarity with VBA, Python and AI-enabled tooling.
  • Comfort working with pharmaceutical secondary data, such as claims, prescriptions or patient-level data.
  • Strong collaborative ability and ease working in ambiguity while questioning assumptions and thinking creatively.

Work setup, location and practical details

The role requires on-site presence in Zug, with the option for remote work in line with Mirum’s policy and subject to agreement with the reporting manager.

Advice for applicants

Highlight your Veeva CRM administration and forecasting work front and center on your resume. Show concrete numbers or outcomes from a forecast you built and how it informed a business decision at the country or brand level.

Demonstrate your cross-functional collaboration by describing a project where you partnered with Brand Leads and Finance to produce mid- or long-range plans, including how you documented assumptions and tracked risks and opportunities.

Be ready to talk through how you translate market research and competitive intelligence into actionable changes in brand strategy, launch planning or forecast updates. Concrete examples will help illustrate your impact.

Ask a thoughtful question about how Mirum measures Commercial Operations success and what projects are on the horizon to advance forecasting, market insights, and sales effectiveness in the next year.
