Part-time
On-site
Croydon North, AU
$80,000 - $110,000 AUD yearly

Bytewize is growing its team to deliver technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role is on-site in Croydon North, Australia, with options for contract, casual or permanent employment. It’s a good fit for someone who enjoys solving ICT challenges in education and collaborating with school staff and leaders.

Bytewize has been delivering ICT support since 2001 and remains a trusted panel member for the TSSP, well known for dependable service to both government education clients and private enterprise. This opening targets experienced IT professionals rather than those just starting out, offering a chance to work across a network of schools and make an impact in technology-enabled learning.

As part of the team, you’ll be on-site at schools, taking responsibility for keeping ICT systems running smoothly, supporting teachers and students, and managing complex enterprise environments. You’ll also team up with school leadership to plan and deliver ICT professional development when it’s needed, helping staff maximise the tools at their disposal.

Keeping schools connected and learning secure

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll oversee ICT infrastructure across Department of Education sites, keep networks and server environments healthy, and provide hands-on support in large, technology-forward learning spaces. Collaboration with school leaders is part of the job, and you’ll share your expertise through targeted professional development when required.

This role isn’t entry-level and calls for strong independent work alongside effective teamwork. You’ll bring a steady approach to troubleshooting, documentation, and ongoing maintenance, ensuring staff and students have reliable access to the right tools and services.

What it takes to join Bytewize

To be considered, you’ll need a minimum of five years working in IT, with hands-on exposure to enterprise environments.

  • Prior involvement with the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP).
  • Substantial experience delivering ICT in educational settings.
  • Equivalent senior-level IT support experience in a corporate setting.

Nice-to-haves are not mandatory but valued in this role:

  • Experience planning and delivering ICT training sessions for school staff.
  • Evidence of success implementing ICT solutions within education contexts.
  • Any prior exposure to the TSSP program is a plus.

Salary, schedule and benefits

The remuneration range for this role is $80,000 – $110,000 (pro-rata), with top rates aligned to your skills and experience and regular salary reviews tied to performance.

Bytewize offers flexible employment options, including contract, casual or permanent arrangements, with both part-time and full-time opportunities depending on needs. The role is onsite in Croydon North, Australia, and there are options for salary packaging, plus potential company vehicle opportunities depending on the position. Ongoing training and professional development are part of the package.

Tips to help you stand out

Put your five-plus years of IT experience up front, especially any TSSP or education-ICT work, so the hiring team can see you’ve got the right background at a glance.

Back up the must-haves with concrete examples that show Hyper-V administration, Windows and Linux server management, cloud service administration (Google Workspace and Microsoft 365), and MDM deployment, plus hands-on work with complex networks (Cisco and HP), wireless tech (Cisco APs/controllers), and large fleets of devices, including 1:1 and BYOD planning.

Prepare for interviews by sharing real-world scenarios about managing school networks, supporting staff and students, and delivering ICT training to educators and leaders. Show how you approach SOE and image deployment and how you troubleshoot in a large, diverse environment.

Ask a targeted question about the role’s impact in TSSP engagements, for example how success is measured on a recent project and what the next ICT initiative for the program looks like, as well as how Bytewize structures training delivery for school staff.
